According to statistics from Planned Parenthood’s own annual report, 96.9% of pregnant people who came to its facilities had abortions. They provided support with a miscarriage only 0.9% of the time.
Planned Parenthood committed 187 abortions for every one adoption referral. They gave prenatal care to only 1.7% of pregnant people at their facilities—and that number has been dropping every year. Services for prenatal care are down 63% since 2013.
Older Surveys Show Some Women Come in Undecided
So, the vast majority of pregnant people who go to Planned Parenthood wind up getting abortions. How many of them decided on abortion before going to Planned Parenthood, and how many came in undecided and were talked into an abortion by employees, is impossible to know.

However, in one older survey publicized in David Reardon’s book Aborted Women: Silent No More, out of 252 women who experienced postabortion trauma:
· 40 to 60% described themselves as not having been certain of their decision prior to counseling.
· 44% stated they were actively hoping to find an option other than abortion during counseling.
· 5% reported that they were encouraged to ask questions.
· 52 to 71% felt the questions were inadequately answered, sidestepped, or trivialized.
· 90% said they were not given enough information to make an informed decision.
· 95% of women who went to Planned Parenthood said they were given “…little or no biological information about the fetus which the abortion would destroy.”
Of course, the sample for the survey was women who regretted their abortions, so these numbers may not be generalizable to all pregnant people who visit abortion facilities.
However, another source, this one from a pro-abortion textbook published in 1996, found that while 48% of pregnant women came to abortion facilities certain of their decision to abort, 32% were ambivalent, and 20% “were unprepared to make a decision and needed more time.”
A Former Planned Parenthood Worker Speaks Out
Former Planned Parenthood workers, however, have reported getting in trouble with their superiors when they sent uncertain pregnant people home to think over their decisions instead of insisting they proceed with abortions.
For example, former Planned Parenthood employee Annette told The American Feminist about being in a room with the director of the abortion clinic, who was “counseling” a pregnant woman. The woman was very uncertain about her decision. She kept saying, “I’m really not sure.”
The director told Planned Parenthood staff to proceed with the abortion anyway. When Annette expressed concern, she “got such heat for speaking up, she did not do it again.”
Although Annette said nothing further to her supervisor, when she was doing counseling, she sent ambivalent women home. According to Annette, “I got reprimanded for that because I wasn’t scheduling enough abortion procedures.”
A Teen Leaves Planned Parenthood in Tears
Planned Parenthood in Glendale, Arizona, failed at least six health inspections. These violations included improperly sterilized instruments, expired medication given to patients, and doctors untrained in CPR.
At the Glendale Planned Parenthood, several reviews reflect on Planned Parenthood’s policy toward dealing with women with wanted pregnancies.
One was from the mother of a teenage daughter who wanted an ultrasound at Planned Parenthood.
She writes:
My daughter had an appointment for an ultrasound since the week prior and we arrived early, but we still waited an hour past the appointment to be seen. We needed an ultrasound for dates because she was not sure how far along she is, and with the holidays, it will take a while to get into a doctor,
When it was time for her to go back, the staff wouldn’t allow me to accompany her. When I protested, they told me it was State Law that she had to be alone. I told them that I am a nurse, and I know that isn’t true.
They then admitted that they lied, and it is only their “office policy”. They then told my daughter they were doing a vaginal ultrasound (NOT needed for dates), and said, “So you probably don’t want your mother in here, right?”
The manager then called me to the desk and announced in a very loud voice that “your daughter doesn’t want you in there anyway.”
The mother then describes what happened to the young woman when she was alone with the abortion worker doing the ultrasound:
The ultrasound tech was extremely rude to my daughter, and after starting the vaginal ultrasound, said that she didn’t need to do it and switched to an abdominal ultrasound. She did it very haphazardly and said she was unable to “see all the parts”.
My daughter had been told the week prior that they could tell her the sex of the baby, but when she asked, the tech said, “We don’t tell people that here.” She did not measure the long bone length because she said she couldn’t find the legs.
She printed out one picture of the top of the head only and said my daughter is 21 weeks pregnant. That is much too far along for her to be unable to “see all the parts.”
My daughter left there in tears and my $75 was spent on an ultrasound that I am questioning the results on.
They also repeatedly asked the girl if she wanted an abortion.
Her mother wrote:
My daughter was so excited to see the baby and find out the sex and instead left crying and wondering why she was treated so harshly.

Separation from Support People
Another woman wrote about how Planned Parenthood workers separated her from her husband and would not allow him to come in when she spoke to the doctor:
Atrosious atmosphere. Nasty attitudes. They care nothing about women just your wallet. They are VERY forceful and try to make you go back to see the Doctor alone. They make you wait hours upon hours.
I have been to many Doctors offices and I have never been told the person who came with me couldn’t come to the back also. I have had ultrasounds, blood tests, and even a prostate exam with my husband accompanying me. They must be hiding something the way they behave. Don’t let them seperate you from your loved ones!

We don’t know this woman’s reasons for going into the facility or what “services” she was given or offered. But it seems to be a common practice, at least at Glendale, to separate patients from their support people, even when they want to have them there.
Refused Care Completely
Another woman who came in with a wanted pregnancy and requested an ultrasound wrote:
If I could rate this office zero stars! I always read reviews before coming to places, and I thought maybe people were just not given what they exactly wanted is the reason this place has the worst reviews, but nope!! This office is horrible!!
As soon as I walked in it was NOT a welcoming place to be! I’m standing at the front waiting for someone to help me for about five minutes just watching her on her phone!!! That is ridiculous!!
Once she finally realized my presence she looked at me and send “what do you need” I asked if I can take a pregnancy test. She then asked if I had at home and what was the results I told her yes and that it was positive. She then responds “then why do you need another one” in the most rude voice!!
She never once smiled at my boyfriend and I for anything! I then asked if I could have an ultrasound sound to start things off.
And you’ll never believe what her response is!! “No you can’t. Maybe another time” she never asked if I wanted to make an appointment!
I will never refer anyone to planned parenthood! In addition to be telling this story! That was ridiculous!! And unbelievably disrespectful!!

The worker was rude and dismissive and had no intention of helping this woman. Because she wasn’t considering an abortion, and would not pay for one, they had no time for her.
Given this behavior, it’s not surprising that, according to Planned Parenthood’s own numbers, they sell abortions to nearly 97% of people who come in pregnant.
They simply don’t have the time or inclination to help people who don’t want to abort their babies.
