The obsession with green energy is betrayal rural customers who depend on the mail.
The Postal Service is supposed to have one job. Instead, it fulfills a number of functions such as…
1. Providing jobs for Democrats
2. Being a test bed for every socialist gimmick, including Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s scheme to turn it into a government bank
3. a green energy boondoggle
That last part isn’t surprising. Dems, drunk on green graft, tried to make every part of the government run on green energy. They built solar panels on veterans’ ceremonies, pushed to have a wide range of military vessels and vehicles run on ‘green’ energy and insisted on replacing post office vehicles with electric garbage.
Republicans are trying to undo some of this nonsense while Democrats (and the Senate parliamentarian) are holding the mail hostage to green graft. All the various crooked green energy schemes are bad enough, but the two particularly awful ones involve ‘green energy’ school buses and mail delivery trucks because they take money out of vital services, services that the Dems claim to care about, and undermine them. EVs don’t work well, especially in the rural areas that really depend on mail delivery, and especially in cold weather.
The Postal Service did not want electric trucks. It was bullied into getting them by members of Congress through a pressure campaign run by the media. They don’t work well and it doesn’t need them now. The more Dems demand electric postal trucks, the more they make it clear that their priority isn’t delivering mail, it’s delivering ideology.
