“The best pro-life speaker ever.”
Those were the words often used to describe Pennsylvania advocate Molly Kelly, who has died at the age of 87.
Her eloquence was born out of tragedy. In 1975, her beloved husband, Jim Kelly, died in an accident, leaving her with eight children. The oldest was only 12—the youngest, 15 months. In tribute to Jim, Molly launched her pro-life ministry.
She was not just a talker, she was a doer. She invited pregnant teenagers to live in her home during a tender time in their lives. With her speaking engagements, she reached thousands of teens each year.
Molly was a joyful soul and her talks were marked by humor. She was as captivating as she was persuasive, spreading the pro-life message throughout the Philadelphia area.
In 2002, Molly experienced her own health challenge, when she experienced an aneurysm. It led to a week in a coma and months of rehabilitation.

But while her speaking journey came to an end, Molly remained an enthusiastic cheerleader for the pro-life movement. We at the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation were so touched by her encouraging notes on hard days.
Molly Kelly was a legend, a happy warrior for the gift of life.
There will never be another like her.
