Russian President Vladimir Putin’s peace terms presented to President Trump included a demand that Ukraine completely withdraw from two of its eastern regions, Axios reported, citing two sources who were allegedly briefed on the matter.
Trump is set to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday in Washington. In a post-summit call with European leaders, he also expressed his desire to hold a trilateral summit with Putin and Zelensky as early as next Friday, according to the sources who spoke to Axios.
In addition, Trump invited European leaders to attend the meeting with Zelensky, and some of them have agreed to do so.

On their flight back to Washington Friday night, Trump and his special envoy Steve Witkoff briefed Zelensky, along with leaders from the U.K., France, Germany, Italy, Finland, NATO, and the European Commission, on Putin’s positions.
According to the briefing, Putin demanded that Ukraine surrender two of the four regions Russia claims — Donetsk and Luhansk — while freezing the front lines in the other two, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia.
Russia currently controls nearly all of Luhansk and about three-quarters of Donetsk. One source familiar with the call said Putin framed his willingness to halt advances in Kherson and Zaporizhzhia as a concession, offered in exchange for Ukraine’s withdrawal from Donetsk.
In reality, however, Russia has not made significant gains in those regions for some time, Axios said.
Putin agreed to accept “robust security guarantees” for Ukraine from the United States as part of a potential peace agreement during his summit with President Donald Trump on Friday, top envoy Steve Witkoff told CNN.
“We agreed to robust security guarantees that I would describe as game changing,” Witkoff told Jake Tapper on “State of the Union,” describing the security guarantee as an “Article 5” type protection against further Russian invasion.
He added that Putin also agreed to the “legislative enshrinement” of a pledge that Russia would not move into any additional territory in Ukraine or elsewhere in Europe as part of a potential peace deal, according to CNN.
Meanwhile, First Lady Melania Trump penned a “peace letter” to Russian President Vladimir Putin, urging that “it is time” to safeguard children and future generations worldwide.
According to Fox News Digital, which exclusively obtained the letter, President Trump personally delivered it to Putin ahead of their summit in Alaska. Putin immediately read the letter in front of the American and Russian delegations, Fox added.
“Dear President Putin,” the first lady’s letter begins. “Every child shares the same quiet dreams in their heart, whether born randomly into a nation’s rustic countryside or a magnificent city-center. They dream of love, possibility, and safety from danger.”
“As parents, it is our duty to nurture the next generation’s hope,” the letter continued. “As leaders, the responsibility to sustain our children extends beyond the comfort of a few.”
“Undeniably, we must strive to paint a dignity-filled world for all—so that every soul may wake to peace, and so that the future itself is perfectly guarded,” said the letter. “A simple yet profound concept, Mr. Putin, as I am sure you agree, is that each generation’s descendants begin their lives with a purity—an innocence which stands above geography, government, and ideology.”
“Mr. Putin, you can singlehandedly restore their melodic laughter,” Melania wrote. “In protecting the innocence of these children, you will do more than serve Russia alone—you serve humanity itself.”
“Such a bold idea transcends all human division, and you, Mr. Putin, are fit to implement this vision with a stroke of the pen today,” she said, concluding: “It is time.”
