(NewsNation) — Three people are dead and eight others were injured in a shooting at a club in Brooklyn, New York, early Sunday morning.
The shooting took place around 3:00 a.m. at the Taste of the City Lounge in the Crown Heights neighborhood. Multiple shooters were involved, police said, with the New York City Police Department recovering multiple guns and at least 36 shell casings from the scene. NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said the shooting comes amid a seven month lull in gun violence in the city.
“We have the lowest number of shooting incidents and shooting victims seven months into the year that we’ve seen on record in the city of New York,” Tisch said. “But we are going to investigate and get to the bottom of what went down.
According to NYPD, the three people killed were men. Those injured were transferred to local hospitals. The victims range in age from 27 to 61 years old.
