Dixon’s attorneys argue that systemic failures within law enforcement led to his wrongful arrest. They cite multiple fundamental errors, including the delayed arrest of the actual suspect, who remained free for 15 months following the murder.
After 67 days of detention, Dixon was finally moved to Barnwell County, where it took investigators mere minutes to realize their mistake. Within half an hour, authorities acknowledged they had the wrong man.
