President Donald Trump’s mysterious summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska has been thrown into controversy after a secret dossier detailing the visit was discovered at a hotel.
Guests at the four-star Hotel Captain Cook found eight pages of government documents left on hotel printers Friday morning, revealing the exact locations and times of Trump’s meetings with Russian officials.
The papers were produced by the Office of the Chief of Protocol and included phone numbers of U.S. government employees, a detailed schedule, and even phonetic pronunciations for the names of Russian attendees, including “Mr. President POO-tihn.”
Monica Crowley, Trump’s Chief of Protocol and former Fox News analyst, was responsible for arranging the summit program, which included a planned luncheon in honor of Putin.
The documents showed the menu, seating chart, and attendees, with Trump positioned across from Putin alongside top aides like Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth.
The luncheon, however, was reportedly canceled, as the Daily Mail reported.
While the documents were marked as Crowley’s work, there is no confirmation linking her directly to the leak.
The incident has drawn criticism from national security experts who called leaving sensitive materials in hotel printers “sloppiness and incompetence.” UCLA law professor Jon Michaels said, “You just don’t leave things in printers. It’s that simple.”
The Alaska summit marked the first U.S.-Russia meeting since Moscow’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Trump discussed a peace plan with Putin and indicated he supports negotiating a settlement without a prior ceasefire, a position that diverges from Kyiv and its European allies.
Trump also told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that Putin had offered to freeze most front lines if Ukraine ceded Donetsk, which Zelensky reportedly rejected.
Crowley, while not as prominent as other cabinet members, plays a vital role in all of Trump’s major U.S.-hosted events. She ensures that every diplomatic procedure runs smoothly, from coordinating with ambassadors to arranging flags and seating.
She was also seen personally sending off Putin as he departed Alaska.
The documents highlight the high level of detail involved in the summit’s planning, from the exact meeting location near the “American Bald Eagle Desk Statue” at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson to the precise menu for the planned luncheon.
The leak raises questions about the handling of sensitive information during high-stakes international meetings.
As Trump continues talks to broker peace between Russia and Ukraine, scrutiny over security protocols and document management is expected to grow.
