Putin blames start of Russia-Ukraine war on Biden

Russian President Vladimir Putin just confirmed what President Donald Trump has been saying all along – namely, that the Russia-Ukraine war would never have begun had Joe Biden not been president of the United States. 

Putin, according to the New York Post, made the statement after his recent meeting with Trump.

It’s Biden’s fault

If you regularly follow President Trump’s public statements, then you have probably heard him blame the Russia-Ukraine war on Biden hundreds of times. Putin followed suit on Friday.

During a press conference, the Russian leader said:

I’d like to remind you that in 2022, during the last contact with the previous administration, I tried to convince my previous American colleague the situation should not be brought to the point of no return when it would come to hostilities. And I said it quite directly back then.

Putin went on to say, “That’s a big mistake today, when President Trump is saying that if he was the president back then, there will be no war — and I’m quite sure that it would indeed be, so I can confirm that.”

Having said all of that, the fact remains that there is an ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, and Trump is doing what he could to put an end to it.

This is why Trump and Putin met on Friday.

No deal yet

The big takeaway from the meetup is that the two were unable to come to an agreement about ending the war, but the meeting was still said to be a success.

Fox News reported:

Though a peace agreement was not decided upon during the meeting on Friday, Trump described it as a successful meeting with “a lot of progress” made. Putin expressed similar sentiments, adding the summit was a “constructive atmosphere of mutual respect.”

Trump has suggested that the next step is to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and it now appears that this will indeed take place.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Saturday he will travel to Washington, D.C. on Monday to meet with President Donald Trump. Zelenskyy’s announcement, which was confirmed by Trump, comes a day after Trump met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on Friday to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine.

We’ll have to see if Zelenskyy’s meeting with Trump goes better than it did the last time he was in D.C. We all remember what happened then.
