Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents have arrested an illegal immigrant accused of killing high school sweethearts in a drunk driving crash with the help of local police but with reportedly less than an hour’s notice before they let her walk free, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
The migrant has been identified as Noelia Saray Martinez-Avila. She was allegedly drunk and driving her SUV the wrong direction on July 20 on a highway outside Madison when she allegedly struck a vehicle and killed the two teens, according to police, according to The New York Post.
ICE agents arrested Martinez-Avila, 30 and a Honduran national, outside a Dane County jail on Aug. 13 after she posted a $250,000 bond, according to DHS.
ICE ifiled a detainer on Martinez-Avila with the Dane County jail on July 22 – but the sheriff denied the request, saying deportation would allow her to evade justice, according to Wisconsin Public Radio.
