The Woke Right says the darnedest things. In this case, cofounder and senior fellow at American Reformer, Aaron Renn, dives into the pressing questions of the day for all conservatives with this banger: Conservatives Need to Reclaim FDR. You read that right. You’re probably not entirely shocked, though, seeing as American Reformer is the “New Christian Right” (Woke Right) outlet that published my famous “Marcus Carlson” (or Communist Manifesto) hoax in November 2024. In this episode of my subscribers-only podcast, James Lindsay OnlySubs, I take you through Renn’s argument for why “conservatives” need to “reclaim” President Franklin Delano Roosevelt as one of their own. The reasons he gives, not to spoil the thing, are because he was willing to do a great reset of American institutions representing true transformative change, because he was a well-networked and well-trained elite (instead of “subaltern” grassroots riff-raff like us), because he “helped the little guy” (socialism, maybe), and because he wasn’t afraid to wield executive and state power to accomplish his aims. Join me for another longer episode walking you through some of the Woke Right’s own words to see what they’re really about.
