A bitter feud between First Lady Melania Trump and Hunter Biden escalated Thursday after Biden delivered a blunt, seven-word response to her legal threat.
The dispute began after Hunter linked Melania to convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein in a recent interview, prompting her lawyers to demand an apology.
In a YouTube interview last month with Andrew Callaghan, Hunter Biden claimed Epstein, the financier who died by suicide in jail in 2019, was the one who first introduced Melania to her future husband, Donald Trump.
Melania’s attorney, Alejandro Brito, responded with a letter calling the claim “false” and “extremely salacious.”
Brito warned that if Hunter did not retract his statements, the First Lady would pursue a $1 billion lawsuit, citing “overwhelming financial and reputational harm.”
During Thursday’s segment on Callaghan’s program, Hunter refused to back down. “F*ck that, that’s not going to happen,” he said.
Hunter also referenced Michael Wolff, a Trump biographer, noting that “Epstein and Trump knew each other well, they spent an enormous amount of time together.”
President Donald Trump has repeatedly dismissed Wolff as a “third-rate reporter” and questioned the accuracy of many anecdotes in his books, as the Conservative Brief reported.
The Daily Beast, which also ran Wolff’s claims, removed its story and issued an apology after receiving a similar letter from Melania’s attorneys.
Hunter made clear he is open to further clarification. “If they want to sit down for a deposition and clarify the nature of the relationship between Jeffrey Epstein — if the president and the first lady want to do that … I’m more than happy to provide them the platform to be able to do it,” he said.
Melania’s team quickly responded.
Nick Clemens, a spokesperson for the First Lady, told ABC News, “First Lady Melania Trump’s attorneys are actively ensuring immediate retractions and apologies by those who spread malicious, defamatory falsehoods. The true account of how the First Lady met President Trump is in her best-selling book, ‘Melania.’” In her memoir, Melania detailed that she met Trump at a 1998 Fashion Week party in New York, where a modeling agent introduced them.
Hunter Biden has a long history of legal entanglements.
Weeks before Trump’s inauguration, then-President Joe Biden pardoned him for two criminal convictions that could have resulted in significant prison time.
He has also filed multiple lawsuits against individuals he claims misused his laptop data before the 2020 election, including a defamation suit against former Overstock CEO Patrick Byrne, which is set for trial this fall.
Hunter previously targeted Fox News over a six-part “mock trial” series, alleging the network displayed sexually graphic photos of him. After initial filings in April 2024 and a re-filing in July, he ultimately abandoned all claims. Fox called the lawsuits “politically motivated stunts” with no merit.
This latest clash shows Hunter remains undeterred, willing to confront high-profile figures even in the face of a potential $1 billion lawsuit. As tensions continue, legal experts warn the feud could escalate if either side pursues formal litigation, keeping both the Trump and Biden families in the public spotlight.
