Chicagoans have a keen understanding that elections have consequences and that voting for a rabid leftist mayor can lead to an unmitigated disaster, and some of them are sounding a warning for New Yorkers.
The Big Apple is less than three months away from electing a communist worm to head up America’s largest city, with the coronation of Zohran Mamdani now looking to be inevitable barring a miraculous shift in the political winds.
If he wins in November, the Ugandan-born Muslim Democrat will immediately become a serious challenger for the title of “America’s worst mayor,” a distinction currently held by Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, who has done the impossible by making Windy City residents wistful for the good old days of Lori Lightfoot.
JUST IN: Socialist Zohran Mamdani now has an 82% chance of becoming the next mayor of New York City, an all-time high according to Polymarket.
Former NY Governor Andrew Cuomo only has a 9% chance of winning with current NYC mayor Eric Adams at 7%.

“What I would say to New Yorkers is do your homework. You have to know who you are supporting, who you are voting for, so people of New York don’t walk around feeling the way I do,” Johnson voter Cata Truss told the New York Post this week.
“I have buyer’s remorse in a way that I’ve never had before,” the 59-year-old added.
Truss, who campaigned for Johnson only to realize the error of her ways and become his vocal critic, advised New Yorkers to understand who is backing Mamdani before taking the plunge.
“Don’t be me,” she said. “Do the research, follow the money. Who is donating to his campaign? Who got him elected? That will be determining where people ought to vote.”
Mamdani’s unexpected rise has been fueled by the same left-wing activists, young voters and minorities who backed Johnson, a far-left former teacher and union organizer with few qualifications to run the country’s third largest city which he has proceeded to run into the ground, a crime-ridden hellhole with serious budget problems that he has only made worse during his dismal tenure at the top.
“I’m anti-Brandon Johnson because I’ve seen what he’s done to this city. All these resources he’s used to take care of illegal citizens is hurting the city,” 81-year-old retired Chicago high school teacher Doris Lewis told the New York Post, referring to Johnson’s plundering of city coffers to throw money at illegal aliens, now the most important demographic to the Democratic Party.
Lewis said that she voted for Johnson because he was a “young black man with a family.” However, the former teacher soon realized that she had made a mistake and now calls him “a disaster, a disgrace and a total disappointment.”
“I’ve been really angry with myself because going in, I had a general idea that he was pushing an agenda for everybody else except black people,” she added, accusing the Chicago mayor of “playing the race card” to appeal to the community.
“What agenda does Zohran Mamdani have for the black community in New York City since that is who he is courting now?” Lewis asked.
Mamdani is seeking to appeal to minorities with his seductive promises of free stuff, city-run grocery stores, free busing and daycare, rent controls, and hundreds of thousands of new units of affordable housing.
He has already been endorsed by the Democratic Party’s high-profile leftists, including socialist diva Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, and Sen. Bernie Sanders, an oligarchy fighting commie curmudgeon with three houses, and a trio that carries much clout with the party’s base, which sees Mamdani as their new hope.
Mamdani has now shifted into attacks on President Donald J. Trump, whom he vows to be the “worst nightmare” for, an irresistible closing argument for Democrats whose hatred for the America First leader has poisoned their judgment.
Lewis predicted that putting a fanatical leftist in charge of City Hall “would be a disaster for New York as it is a disaster for Chicago.”
“Socialism hasn’t worked for black people, so I am anti-this guy in New York,” she said.
Another Chicago “middle of the road Democrat” called for New Yorkers to “learn from our mistakes.”
“We see a lot of comparisons being made right now. Both are hyper-progressive, hyper-left socialist Democratic candidates,” said Chicago Democratic Alderman Raymond Lopez.
“Now you have New York and Chicago duking it out for who is going to be the more socialist, the more progressive city in America. It’s almost like a socialist nightmare,” he told the New York Post.
“Learn from our mistakes and pick someone who is more focused on results and common sense than simply burning down the barn because you want to see fire,” Lopez added, an important piece of advice for New Yorkers, who will likely ignore it.
A new Siena College poll has Mamdani opening up a 19-point lead on his closest opponent, disgraced former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. Polymarket currently gives the left-wing wrecking ball an 82 percent chance of winning the November 4 mayoral election.
