A Long Island mom is facing serious charges after allegedly attacking her daughter’s teenage rival with a metal water bottle during a fight outside a New York high school.
Police say the brawl broke out around 11 a.m. Tuesday at Brentwood High School in Suffolk County. A 14-year-old student was walking out of the building when she began arguing with a 15-year-old classmate. But instead of de-escalating the situation, authorities allege the older teen’s mother, 35-year-old Toni Moore, jumped in — and things turned violent fast.
According to police, Moore grabbed her daughter’s Stanley water bottle and struck the younger girl in the head multiple times. Security guards stepped in and officers arrested Moore in the parking lot soon after. She has been charged with second-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
The victim, Madison Evans, says she was left bleeding and needed 17 stitches. “Her mom just came in and started beating me with the cup,” the 10th grader told WABC. “I touched my head because I saw blood dripping… it was all over my hands.”
A video reportedly shows the two teens arguing moments before Moore can be heard saying, “Give me your Stanley” to her daughter — and then launching the attack.
Moore’s attorney claims Evans was the aggressor and that Moore was at the school to meet with administrators about bullying. But Evans’ guardian, Shameakca Forney, says nothing excuses what happened. “She could’ve died. Anything could’ve happened to her, more than just being hit over the head and having 17 stitches.”
Moore was released Wednesday on a GPS ankle monitor as the investigation continues.
