A 35-year-old mother assaulted a teen girl who was sparring with her daughter at a New York high school, authorities say.
The Suffolk County Police Department said in a press release that officers responded around 11 a.m. Tuesday to Brentwood High School on Long Island for a fight. According to cops, a 14-year-old girl was walking out of the school when she started “exchanging words” with a 15-year-old. Instead of breaking up the fight, the older girl’s mother, Toni Moore, took out a metal water bottle and walloped her daughter’s rival multiple times in the head, cops allege.
A security guard intervened and cops arrested Moore in the parking lot a short time later. She stands accused of second-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child. The teen was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The girl, Madison Evans, told New York ABC affiliate WABC she received 17 stitches on her forehead.
“Her mom just came in and started beating me with the cup,” the 10th grader told the TV station. “I touched my head because I saw blood dripping. I touched my head and I saw blood all over my hands.”
At a court hearing, Moore’s attorney reportedly said it was Evans who was the aggressor and she was at the school to meet with officials over concerns about bullying.
A video of the alleged incident reportedly shows the two girls arguing and Moore telling her daughter to “Give me your Stanley” before the alleged assault begins.
Shameakca Forney, Madison’s guardian, told WABC that Moore’s actions are unacceptable.
“She could’ve died,” she said. “Anything could’ve happened to her, more than just being hit over the head and having 17 stitches.”
At a court hearing on Wednesday, a judge released Moore on a GPS monitor.
