UFC CEO Dana White has officially confirmed that the Ultimate Fighting Championship will stage a historic fight at the White House on July 4th to commemorate the United States’ 250th birthday celebration.
White announced an appearance on CBS Mornings, where hosts questioned him about the highly anticipated event that President Trump had previously announced.
The UFC executive left no doubt about the organization’s commitment to the groundbreaking venue.
“It is definitely going to happen,” White told the network hosts during the televised interview.
The confirmation removes any uncertainty surrounding what would mark the first professional mixed martial arts event ever held on White House grounds.
White provided specific details about the timing and broadcast arrangements for the unprecedented sporting spectacle.
The event will take place on “July 4th, [the] 250th birthday of the USA. Live on CBS from the White House,” he stated.
The UFC chief executive revealed that President Trump personally contacted him to request the organization stage the fight at the nation’s most famous residence.
White disclosed that Trump specifically wanted his daughter involved in the planning process.
“When [Trump] called me and asked me to do it, he said, ‘I want Ivanka in the middle of this.’ So Ivanka reached out to me, and … I started talking about the possibilities,” White explained to the CBS hosts.
President Trump first announced the White House UFC fight concept earlier in July during a public address.
The president outlined his vision for incorporating the sporting event into the broader America250 celebration activities.
“Every one of our national parks, battlefields and historic sites are going to have special events in honor of ‘America250’ and I even think we’re going to have a UFC fight,” Trump said at the time during his remarks.
Trump expressed enthusiasm for the UFC organization and its leadership during his announcement speech.
“Does anybody watch UFC? The great Dana White? We’re going to have a UFC fight. We’re going to have a UFC fight — think of this — on the grounds of the White House. We have a lot of land there,” the president declared, per Post Millennial (PM) reporting.
The president provided additional specifics about the scale and scope of the planned White House fighting event.
Trump indicated that the venue would accommodate a substantial audience for the championship bout.
“We’re going to build a little — we’re not, Dana is going to do it. Dana is great, one of a kind — going to be a UFC fight, championship fight, full fight, like 20,000 to 25,000 people, and we’re going to do that as part of ‘250’ also,” Trump explained during his speech.
Despite confirming the event’s occurrence, White acknowledged that fighter selections remain undetermined at this early planning stage.
The UFC executive indicated that specific matchup details would be announced at a later date.
PM noted that the confirmation comes as the UFC continues expanding its reach and securing major broadcasting partnerships.
White’s announcement follows closely behind significant business developments for the mixed martial arts organization.
The UFC recently finalized a substantial $7.7 billion agreement with Paramount, which was announced on Monday.
This major deal demonstrates the organization’s continued growth and market influence in professional sports entertainment.
White House grounds will require significant logistical preparation to accommodate the expected 20,000 to 25,000 spectators that Trump projected for attendance.
The transformation will represent a unique challenge for both UFC production staff and Secret Service security personnel.
The America250 initiative encompasses numerous celebratory events across the nation’s historic locations.
Trump’s announcement indicated that national parks, battlefields and historic sites would all participate in the milestone anniversary recognition.
CBS will serve as the exclusive broadcast partner for the White House UFC event, bringing the championship fight directly into American homes.
