Most folks figure the real money in helping illegal aliens has been flowing through preachy churches and taxpayer-fat NGOs doling out free hugs and “welcome baskets.” Surprise – the DMV’s had its hand in the cookie jar too.
Meet Melissa Moorman, the hero who blew the whistle on it. She was working as a staffing contractor at Louisville’s Nia Center Licensing Branch, a Driver Licensing Regional Office operated by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC), serving Louisville residents.
While there, she spotted something fishier than week-old catfish: state employees were allegedly selling driver’s licenses to illegal aliens – for $200 each, up to five a day, every day for two years.
The Daily BS reports that for her whistleblowing efforts, Moorman got a pink slip. She reported the scheme in October 2024 in a letter co-written with her supervisor and explained how her co-workers allegedly used her computer login without permission to process licenses.
And how did the powers that be respond? By firing her. The silver lining is that at least the scammers she exposed got the boot too.
The number of licenses “issued in error” has ballooned past 1,500 with the KYTC telling the illegal aliens to return the invalid licenses. However, 2,300 records still sit under lock and key while investigations are ongoing by the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the Kentucky State Police. For those keeping track, if they are all bogus: 1,500 + 2,300 x $200 = a whopping $461,500!
Meanwhile, Democratic Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear claims he’s not “aware” of any licensing fraud tied to immigration issues – despite Moorman’s letter sitting in the archives since late 2024 and WDRB covering the story since April.
So here we are looking back on more fraud and sleaze that happened under Biden’s open borders: churches who cashed in on “compassion,” NGOs who were swimming in taxpayer cash, and now we find out that the DMV was allegedly running a side hustle worthy of a mob movie.
The moral of the story? If you’re an American who plays by the rules, you get red tape and renewal fees. If you’re here illegally while Democrats are running the show, there’s apparently a VIP lane – just bring cash.
