Tracy Cramer Announces Campaign for Oregon State Senate District 11
By Tracy Cramer campaign,
GERVAIS, OR – Today, former State Representative Tracy Cramer (R) announced her candidacy for Oregon State Senate District 11, the seat currently held by outgoing Senator Kim Thatcher.
“Working families in Marion County need bold and proven leadership to effectively tackle the challenges they face,” said Cramer. “We’ve been left behind by Portland politicians. Together with Senator Thatcher, we’ve worked to clean up their mess by improving K-12 education, making life safer and more affordable, and tackling our mental health and drug crisis. Senate District 11 deserves a champion for these issues. I’m ready to stand up to the partisanship and special interests to make real progress. Enough with the broken promises. Oregon can’t afford anything less.”
Cramer previously served in the Oregon House of Representatives (District 22), where she earned a reputation as an effective, bipartisan advocate who worked across the aisle to deliver results.
Cramer’s legislative accomplishments include:
- Passing a historic housing package to reduce costs, expand housing options for farm workers, and move homeless Oregonians into permanent housing.
- Leading the fight to increase both funding and accountability for public K-12 schools.
- Supporting middle-class tax cuts.
- Making real progress fighting our drug and mental health crisis playing out on our streets by re-criminalizing dangerous drugs and expanding treatment options.
Today’s announcement comes with a strong endorsement from outgoing Senator Kim Thatcher, who has represented Senate District 11 since 2015.
“From when I first met her, I have never doubted Tracy’s unwavering commitment to her constituents and core principles while still finding ways to work effectively with colleagues across the aisle,” said Senator Thatcher. “Her deep roots in our community, combined with her legislative experience and dedication to public service, make her uniquely qualified to be our next State Senator. I’m proud to endorse Tracy and will do everything I can to help her win this seat.”
Cramer’s campaign will focus on the pressing challenges facing Senate District 11, which includes North Salem, Woodburn, Keizer, Gervais, Brooks, and Labish Village. SD 11 is significantly younger, less affluent, and more diverse than most areas of Oregon.
“A full quarter of our families rely on government assistance to put food on the table and far more than average can’t afford medical insurance,” said Cramer. “Yet Portland politicians drive through my district every day only to pass more taxes on the very people who live and work here: from farmworkers to small shop owners, service workers to public employees. The worst deception of the Portland-owned Democrats running this state is that they need more money from the families working hard to make ends meet in order to solve the problems they have spent decades creating. I’m tired of it, and I know that the voters are tired of it.”
Tracy Cramer was born and raised in Gervais, Oregon, where she grew up working as a farmhand for her parents. A graduate of Gervais High School and Anthem College, Cramer has deep roots in the community. Before serving in the Oregon House of Representatives, she worked as a dental assistant. She and her husband, Jake, operate their own small business and live in Gervais with three children.
