Why Cuba?

Cuba represented a symbol of successful socialist revolution in the Western Hemisphere. The FLQ members likely viewed Cuba as a safe haven and a model for their own revolutionary aspirations. Reading the article, we also learn that it’s a dialectical narrative attack on Europeans. They have taken a Shakespeare Play, and made it about the evils of European Colonialism.
