When John Fetterman ran for Senate in 2022, he was the darling of the Democrat Party base.
But things change.
And now John Fetterman is facing one resignation crisis that he never saw coming.
As Great American Digest reports:
Democrats and the media covered up for John Fetterman’s cognitive issues after suffering his stroke six months before the 2022 election.
The cover-up continued after Fetterman took office.
Just weeks after entering the Senate, Fetterman checked into Walter Reed to receive treatment for depression after Fetterman reportedly began to realize he would never fully recover from the stroke.
Now the left is waging open war on Fetterman.
Fetterman is a reliable vote for gun control, men playing women’s sports, amnesty and Big Labor.
However, Fetterman supports Israel’s war in Gaza.
And that’s rendered Fetterman persona non grata on the left.
The media is now covering his mental health issues with New York Magazine running a story quoting former chief of staff Adam Jentleson going on the record about how Fetterman’s staff thought he was a danger to them and himself.
A story in The New York Times attacking Fetterman for routinely skipping votes poured gasoline on the fire.
Fetterman defended himself in a debate with Pennsylvania’s Republican Senator Dave McCormick claiming he wanted to be at home with his kids.
“I’m here. I’m doing that job,” Fetterman stated. “For me, if I miss some of those quotes — I mean some of those votes — I’ve made 90 percent of them and, and we all know those votes that I’ve missed were on Monday; those are travel days, and I have three young kids, and I — those are throwaway procedural votes. … That’s a choice that I made, and if you want to attack me for that, go ahead.”
This excuse didn’t sit well because showing up to work and casting votes is the job Fetterman signed up for.
If he wants to be a father, no one will begrudge him for that decision.
But Fetterman’s comments make it sound like he doesn’t enjoy the job of being a senator very much.
Left-wing groups up in arms over Fetterman’s support for Israel attacked him on this point.
“You have failed to fulfill the most basic duties of the office by avoiding contact with your constituents who can’t even leave voicemails after business hours, refusing to hold town halls, yelling at visitors in your office and inexcusably missing more votes than any other member of the current Senate,” a letter from Indivisible Pennsylvania read.
Fetterman tried to claim other Senators like Washington’s Patty Murray and Bernie Sanders of Vermont also missed votes.
“Why aren’t the left media yelling and demanding them and claiming they’re not doing their job?” Fetterman asked.
Fetterman’s absenteeism is far worse than either Sanders’ or Murray’s.
Since entering Congress in 1991, Sanders missed 13.4 percent of votes.
Murray skipped 2.6 percent of votes since 1993.
In Fetterman’s first 28 months in office he’s missed 18.1 percent of votes.
