James Carville just did something rare in today’s Democratic Party—he told the truth.
On his “Politics War Room” podcast, the longtime Democratic strategist didn’t dance around the issue, didn’t sugarcoat it, and didn’t try to polish a political failure into something salvageable. He flat-out said what many Democrats are whispering behind closed doors but are too cowardly to say out loud: Kamala Harris is politically finished.
“Anybody that had anything to do with 2024, the party wants to move on from that,” Carville declared. He’s not wrong. Harris didn’t just lose in 2024—she embarrassed herself and her party. And now, even the architects of the Democratic machine are racing to distance themselves from the wreckage.
Let’s be clear: this isn’t Carville going rogue. This is a warning shot from inside the Democratic establishment. When he says the party wants nothing to do with Harris or her allies in 2028, he’s reflecting the cold, hard calculations being made by party donors, consultants, and operatives who know a political liability when they see one.
Kamala Harris was never ready for prime time. She flamed out of the 2020 Democratic primary before a single vote was cast. Then she was plucked off the political scrap heap by Joe Biden in a desperate bid to check the right demographic boxes. The result? Four years of failure, incoherence, and a trail of historic unpopularity. Her approval ratings were underwater from day one and only got worse. Her public appearances were riddled with hollow platitudes, awkward cackles, and bizarre word salads that became the punchline of a presidency.
And now, after the 2024 election loss, Harris is floating the idea of another run in 2028? That’s not just delusional—it’s insulting to the American people.
Even Democrats know this. That’s why Carville’s message was blunt: “Don’t be terrified,” he told his listeners when asked if Harris might run again. “She wisely chose not to run for governor of California.” Translation: she knows she’d lose.
But here’s the real kicker: it’s not just Harris. Carville lumped in the entire 2024 crew, including Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, saying, “This goes to Walz, too. I wouldn’t run again.” The entire Democratic bench from 2024 has been tainted by failure, and even the party’s old guard knows it.
Contrast this with the Republican momentum under President Trump. While the Democrats are exiling their former nominees, feuding behind closed doors, and trying to erase the last four years, Trump is delivering results. The economy is rebounding. The border is being secured. Crime is being tackled head-on. America is once again projecting strength abroad and prosperity at home. Meanwhile, Democrats are stuck in a circular firing squad, trying to figure out who gets the blame for their historic collapse.
This is what happens when you build a party around identity politics, not ideas. Harris was never about competence. She was a diversity hire, plain and simple. And when things went south, even her own party couldn’t pretend anymore. As Carville put it, “This is not going to be the environment that a 2024 Democrat… [can] run again.”
So where does that leave the Democrats? In chaos. They have no bench. No leadership. No vision. And no plan for 2028. The fact that Kamala Harris was ever considered their future tells you everything you need to know about their present.
Meanwhile, conservatives should take note. The Left is in retreat, but that doesn’t mean they’re gone. They’ll regroup. They’ll rebrand. They’ll try to manufacture a new “rising star” and sell them as the savior of progressivism. Don’t buy it. We’ve seen this movie before. And we’ve seen how it ends.
The American people rejected the Harris-Biden experiment for good reason. Now it’s time to keep building on that victory—with real leadership, real results, and a Republican Party that puts America first.
