After announcing on Monday he was taking federal control of the police department in Washington, D.C., President Trump insinuated in the White House briefing room that five other cities could face a similar effort from his administration.
This from newsmax.com.
Newsweek reported:
Trump said the attempt to address crime and homelessness would ‘go further’ than D.C., as he specifically named Baltimore, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, and Oakland, California.
The president said during the press conference as he stood alongside Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Attorney General Pam Bondi:
We have other cities also that are bad. Very bad.
Further:
You look at Chicago, how bad it is. You look at Los Angeles, how bad it is. We have other cities that are very bad. New York has a problem. And then you have, of course, Baltimore and Oakland. We don’t even mention that anymore there.
And:
They’re so far gone. We’re not going to let it happen. We’re not going to lose our cities over this.
When Trump said his administration is also considering sending the military into Chicago, he mocked communist/globalist Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, according to Mediaite:
If we need to, we’re gonna do the same thing in Chicago, which is a disaster.
Further:
We have a mayor there who is totally incompetent. He’s an incompetent man. And we have an incompetent governor there. Pritzker’s an incompetent. His family threw him out of the business. And he ran for governor. And now I understand he wants to be president.
And:
But I noticed he lost a little weight, so now he has a chance.
Trump spoke next about the Left’s problematic handling of the recent fires in Los Angeles, and he then added:
Hopefully LA is watching.
President Trump is right to be concerned; D.C. is out of control as well as is each of the other cities he listed. His plan has two parts:
Removing the homeless encampments
and clamping down on criminals.
From Fox News:
‘Washington, D.C. will be LIBERATED today!,’ Trump wrote on TRUTH Social. ‘Crime, Savagery, Filth, and Scum will DISAPPEAR. I will, MAKE OUR CAPITAL GREAT AGAIN! The days of ruthlessly killing, or hurting, innocent people, are OVER! I quickly fixed the Border (ZERO ILLEGALS in last 3 months!), D.C. is next!!!’
From The Liberty Daily:
Trump told reporters he is officially invoking the D.C. Home Rule Act to place the Metropolitan Police Department under direct federal control and deploy the National Guard, stating, ‘This is Liberation Day in D.C.—and we’re going to take our capital BACK.’
Details on what will be done with the homeless—other than relocating them—is limited at present. As for the criminals that infest the District, President Trump is crystal clear on what’s to be done as he stated previously:
The Criminals, you don’t have to move out. We’re going to put you in jail, where you belong. It’s going to happen very fast, just like the Border.
To the president’s credit, progress is already occurring. More than a half-dozen people were arrested this past weekend in Washington, D.C. by Park Police officers who worked in tandem with agents from the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF).
The police officers and agents collaborated to conduct a successful contraband sweep. Park Police Fraternal Order of Police chairman Kenneth Spencer told the Post in an exclusive interview that at least eight perps were arrested as part of the joint agency raids.
All kinds of contraband were seized during the D.C. raids, including drugs, fake drugs, and cash, along with weapons.
The Post noted:
At least 30 ‘fraudulent oxycodone pills’—which appeared to be fentanyl—were also seized, along with 210 grams of crack cocaine, 600 grams of marijuana, 64 grams of hashish oil and cash with a total value of $3,600, Spencer added.
It was a multi-agency effort that we are leading from the White House directive.
Further:
It’s going to have a huge impact on crime in the city.
And:
[I]t’s one of the largest task forces [I’ve] seen in 15 years on the job.
Think about what is really happening here. D.C. has run itself since 1973. That is over 50 years of local control. And what do we have to show for it? Murder. Carjackings. Homeless encampments. Trash everywhere. Now is the time to admit the experiment failed!
