Go woke, go broke. That was the reality a couple of years ago for companies embracing the “woke” strategy being pushed by liberals. DEI was everything, and if you didn’t fall in line, you were cancelled. It really didn’t work out very well.
Remember Dylan Mulvaney? Remember what happened to Bud Light?
Anheiser Busch hired a “woke” marketing director and she decided that Bud Light was catering to “frat boys” and needed to be more “inclusive.” To that end, she EXCLUDED nearly 100% of the Bud Light core consumers by making a big deal out of some dude with a little deal pretending to be a woman and poof…Bud Light went from the best selling beer brand to dwelling beneath the hole in which the keg was sitting.
That was the beginning of the end for “woke” businesses. Others tried, and failed to play the “woke” game including Jaguar, Target, Disney, Harley-Davidson and others all of whom suffered when they cuddled up to the “woke” agenda and most have since retreated from it including John Deere. Imagine John Deere, makers of heavy farming and lawn care equipment thinking catering to the 1% LGBTQ – EIEIO crowd while putting the rest of their core customers out to pasture was a good idea.
Early in President Trump’s second term, he declared DEI and “woke” nonsense was dead on his arrival and stated without a blink that there are just two sexes…male and female. Well, naturally, liberals had a collective hissy-fit, and asylums of higher indoctrination are still trying to hide their DEI agenda on college campuses, but one by one they’re being rooted out, and fines stiffer than Lea Thomas in a girls locker room are being levied against such schools.
Perhaps the final nail in the “woke” agenda coffin was hammered a couple of weeks ago when the Sydney Sweeney ad campaign dropped for American Eagle. Oh, the outrage. Oh the gnashing of teeth. Oh, the wadding of trans panties.
Oh, the humanity.
After nearly a decade of clothing companies featuring models that were anything but model material in ad campaigns for this, that and the other thing, suddenly there was a quantum shift in the industry. Now by “anything but model material,” I mean the use of morbidly obese models trying to look sexy wearing one brand or another, as though consumers would accept somebody who appeared to be trying to stuff 25 pounds of potatoes into a pair of panty hose as someone they wanted to emulate. It was even worse when Jabba The Hut was modeling Princess Leah’s bikini with his Jar-Jar Binks showing.
Nobody wants to see that.
Among other things nobody wanted to see was the elimination of Aunt Jemima, Uncle Ben, The Land-O-Lakes Indian maiden or the Washington Redskins. That was all done in accordance to the “woke” agenda that had one company after another cowering under the threat of cancellation. That agenda also forced a gallery of the most unlikely models into the spotlight for companies, and cancelled such events as the Victoria’s Secret fashion show.
Never mind that Aunt Jemima was a rotund black woman, or the fact that the Redskins logo art was created by a native American artist…it didn’t matter…they were ousted in the name of “wokeness.”
Well, people got sick and tired of being told by liberals what was acceptable, appealing and worthy of being seen in the public domain. People were tired of seeing a cast of fat people singing and dancing to sell Jardiance, and sick of seeing models in danger of being pushed back into the water by the “Save the Whales” do-gooders at the beach as Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition models.
It turns out that what people DO want to see is…Sydney Sweeney, or various renditions thereof.
To be honest, I had heard of Sydney Sweeney before her American Eagle ad campaign dropped, and I knew she was an actress although I could not have told you a single thing she had done, but there she was…the latest target of the liberals. The ad campaign was built around Sydney Sweeney having “great jeans”…not good genes as in genetics, but that’s how liberals portrayed it. It was a play on words without any ulterior motives. “Sydney Sweeney has great jeans.”
Liberals naturally said it was racist and that Sweeney is a Nazi, and claimed the ad campaign was all about “white nationalism.”
It’s been about three weeks now that the ad campaign started, and if this were five years ago, American Eagle and Sydney Sweeney would have been cancelled by liberals and their nincompoopish “woke” agenda. But this is now, and rather than American Eagle going down in flames, as a company, they have risen like a Phoenix from the ashes of the “woke” agenda. American Eagle’s stock prices soared more than 20%, and Sweeney is still grabbing all the press headlines.
Sydney Sweeney is an attractive, all-American girl-next-door looking woman that girls and young women want to be, and young men want to be with. She’s blonde, confidant, strong, unafraid, fit and she doesn’t have a weiner. You know who else is attractive, blonde, confidant, strong, unafraid, fit and she doesn’t have a weiner? Beyonce, who a few years ago in the midst of the “woke” agenda heydays also did a jeans ad…for Levi’s…and the left somehow didn’t think SHE was a Nazi.
Over at “The View,” Whoopie claimed that Sweeney is “objectifying women” because in the ad campaign, Sweeney’s natural assets are seen and she poses in a rather attractive way. Well, so too did Beyonce, and Whoopsie never said one thing about Beyonce objectifying women.
The point is, much to the consternation of liberals, good looking people, male or female, sell more products than do woke idiots pretending to be what they’re not. It’s a fact of life and it’s engrained in the collective consciousness of people. If Whoopsie Goldberg was the spokesmodel for Victoria’s Secret, they’d be selling tents rather than lingerie. Aesthetics are important in selling products, and the more pleasing the model, the more sales can be racked up.
It’s just that simple, and that brings me to another issue liberals just can’t figure out…Men.
In 2024, liberals lost male voters big time, and now they’re trying to get them back. They’re trying everything they can think of, but the problem is that the liberal think-tank is nothing but a row of flaming porta-potties.
Liberals have been labeling men as “TOXIC” for the better part of the past two decades. Liberals have been claiming that “MEN ARE EVIL” for the better part of the past two decades. Now…liberals say that going to the gym, working out, being in shape is fascist, and those men (and women) who work hard to be fit are NAZI’S…racist, and undesirable.
Das ist Blödsinn.
But it goes further than that regarding liberals scorn of men.
While liberals claim to be unable to define what a woman is, it seems that their definition of men includes putting your hippy-hair into a man-but, wearing dresses stolen from other people’s luggage at the airport, pretending you can become pregnant and seeking out tampons in the men’s bathroom. To be a liberal man, you have to be easily offended on behalf of people you know nothing about, be so in touch with your feminine side that you blame outbursts of anger on “that time of the month,” own at least three cats, support terrorist organizations, date outside your own species or within your own gender, and want to watch the Hallmark channel rather than watch the game.
That is pure fantasy, while reality shows that REAL men are hardwired to compete…against other real men…not only in sports but in life. REAL men want to be the best at whatever they do, not have life handed to them because they’re entitled to what others have earned. REAL men want to take on challenges, find a partner that bolsters the gene pool, be seen as confidant, seek out adventure and wouldn’t order a grande caramel skinny latte from a barista named Ethan who still wears a surgical mask three years after the end of the COVID culture of doom.
Men, be they on the right or left side of the political aisle have been putting up with and for the most part ignoring all the “toxic masculinity” crap for the past couple of decades BUT when the ilk of Barack Hussein Obama tells us boys need gay men in their lives, when the liberal agenda says drag queens need to be telling our kids stories in school, and when they try to tell us that boys and men should be allowed in girl’s and women’s sports, that we should all aspire to be as manly as Tampon Tim Walz, Dylan Mulvaney is the epitome of womanhood but Sydney Sweeney is a vile NAZI because she is blonde and “has great JEANS” (Remember…Real men thought Allison Doody, who played the role of the blonde Nazi chick in the 3rd Indiana Jones flick was HOT and if she was good enough for Indy and Henry, she was good enough for us)…REAL MEN are done…done listening, done with membership in that sociopathic political cult, and because Allison Doody is no more a Nazi than is Sydney Sweeney…they have done run out of shits to give.
It’s not hard for rational people to understand why men are fleeing the liberal party, but it’s impossible for liberals to figure it out. Real men don’t care what others want to pretend to be, but they damned sure aren’t going to pretend it’s true…when it obviously isn’t. Real men don’t play identity politics while checking off “woke” agenda boxes. Real men are pretty simple creatures. When it comes to friendships, real men don’t give a damn when it comes to color. Character counts, color doesn’t. In male friends, just be real, and where female friends are concerned, we’re just looking for women that, as Neil Diamond said, are “more loyal than my dog Sam and twice as pretty.”
That’s the bottom line.
