MORE Office Holders Attacked By Tallahassee
Yesterday, I wrote that Orlando County Mayor, Jerry Demings, had signed ICE agreements from Tallahassee because he FEARED that DeSantis would remove him from office, but had no direct knowledge of such a threat.
NOW HE HAS THAT KNOWLEDGE
From the Independent Sentinel this morning,
Little more than 24 hours passed since the Orlando Mayor Jerry Demings vowed to never sign an agreement with ICE. He said he wouldn’t be “bullied into doing it.” Then Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier threatened the mayor and all six county commissioners that their failure to do so would result in their removal from office by Gov. Ron DeSantis.
Under what authority, you might wonder.
The Florida constitution does have quite a bit of room for bullies, hiding in certain verbiage, and those bullies HAVE BEEN flexing their political muscle on members of BOTH parties.
The Florida Constitution under Article IV, gives the governor power to remove for “malfeasance, neglect of duty, drunkenness, incompetence, permanent inability to perform official duties, or commission of a felony.” I know it’s tempting to believe bad stuff about the “other side” in these hard-fought political times, but the more likely scenario is that DeSantis and his new AG Utheimer are showboating for the country.
Alligator Alcatraz, the idea Uthmeier gave DeGov is a good example.
I have yet to hear the specifics of Uthmeier’s threat to Orlando officials, but it hard to believe that all seven were drunk, disorderly or criminal enough to be suspended from their duties.
You’d think that, after the fiasco of summarily removing duly elected county officials and telling folks with whom they are allowed to associate, Tallahassee might try to avoid this move. But, no.
The Governor’s power is not absolute, of course, and must be reviewed by the Florida Senate. When the Senate contains enough gubernatorial sycophants, though, it all boils down to political warfare. This is what is happening in Florida, imho.
The Senate does not have to review actions of the Party, however. That leaves the RPOF free to roll.
There were only in-party “rules” which are written at will, when the RPOF (Republican Party of Florida) hatchet man Helmich went after the duly elected representatives in Manatee County, and when the Rules Committee “rearranged” agendas and candidates in Duval, Lee, Collier, Osceola, Hillsborough, St. Johns and other counties.
No one in Tallahassee objected to sending a letter to all state Republican groups FORBIDDING THEM to associate with The Reclaim Campaign, for its efforts to help people seek out and vet good candidates. Nor did Tally say anything about the lawsuit brought against the Florida Republican Assembly (FRA) for using an elephant mascot and the word, “Republican”.
There were “rules” to cover all that, somehow. Rules with little oversight.
“Forbidding association with”…. THAT is something that no one should push aside in their minds. Hitler, Mussolini and Stalin also forbade free association.
Seems pretty clear that Governor Ron DeSantis is engaging in political fisticuffs and most of the legislature is helping. DeGov and the Totallytarians know of every move that the RPOF team makes. There is little if any objection voiced, so I lay the responsibility for all this, at their feet. Even the ones in hiding.
I never again want to hear that Tallahassee is doing things against the Governor’s wishes. Or vice versa.
Ron DeSantis is a small man with large ambitions. He is using his current office – to which he was first elected only by .4% in 2018 with the assistance of the man he now stands against – to make another run for the Presidency of the United States. That is a very open “secret”. He does all he can from Tallahassee to help himself and his ambitions. Having a wife as the next Florida Governor would be a juicy addition to his game.
Is DeGov just acting like all politicians? No, not really. . . only like those we’ve come to distrust.
This is NOT, OUR REPUBLICAN PARTY, as Marjorie Taylor Green has said of the Faux Republicans in Congress. It has become a Big Boys Club where outsiders need not apply.
Agreed.
She went on to threaten, however, which threat was picked up by the Daily Beast and posted on “X”, a breakup with Trump over it.
Disagree.
Right now, I believe that is hasty and destructive. Not to mention stupid, to say something of this sort out loud where the enemy can and will make headlines with it. She wants to dump on one of the FEW politicians who has been successful against those on whom she dumps. Go figure, as they say.
The Daily Beast is a left-leaning rag, and is always on the alert for breaks in Trump’s armor, as that is the Left’s one and only chance to climb out of the grave they’ve dug themselves. They want to believe that MTG’s frustrations are fruitful for their side. When expressed in public, they just might be. Why risk it?
Donald Trump is, at this point in time, our best hope, I still believe. Donald John Trump is not perfect, he is our best and only hope right now. He and his troops have enough with which to deal, without a “conservative Republican” of national fame lifting her leg on the whole mess at this point.
Fragmenting a party which contains so many Globalists in Republican “clothing” all but guarantees big losses for the People’s Party, and our freedom in the next election.
We are just now awakening many voters who have remained clueless about politics, to realize that they actually like what Trump is doing. Election integrity professionals like Kris Jurski and Dr. Richards of EagleAI, are working overtime to make sure that the next vote, the 2026 Midterm, reflects the REAL CHOICES of the people. Trump has pledged a national effort on election integrity.
Now it not the time to dump and jump, MTG.
It’s different to take on a state party that has wandered so far away from the People’s choices, because THAT is where we can make a real difference.
I write to help people become aware. I want them to ACT, LOCALLY, for what they want, in their own counties and towns – things like clean voter rolls, clean air and water, the ability to pay for enough power to run their lives. To do this successfully, citizens have to be able to have a say in whom they elect, and they have to have a state party that is not afraid of the choices their citizens will make.
DC politics are the bright shiny object which distracts people from the only place they can make a difference – AT HOME.
Fresh political winds are blowing in Florida, as well as in a number of other places in this great nation. Please breathe them in deeply. Get involved, even if only to donate to others who are making a difference.
Now is THE very best time to make a real difference. Or forever hold your tears for our lost freedom.
