Talk about a robust incentive.
Attorney General Pam Bondi announced a $50 million reward under the Narcotics Rewards Program for information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of Nicolás Maduro for violating U.S. narcotics laws — the U.S. disputes the outcome of the 2024 election in Venezuela and does not recognize Maduro as president.
The State Department tagged Maduro as “a leader of Cartel de los Soles,” which is responsible for trafficking drugs into the United States — last month, the U.S. Department of the Treasury designated Cartel de Los Soles as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT).

“Maduro uses foreign terrorist organizations like TDA [Tren de Aragua], Sinaloa, and Cartel of the Suns to bring deadly drugs and violence into our country,” she explained. “To date, the DEA has seized 30 tons of cocaine linked to Maduro and his associates, with nearly 7 tons linked to Maduro himself, which represents a primary source of income for the deadly cartels based in Venezuela and Mexico.”
“Cocaine is often laced with fentanyl, resulting in the loss and destruction of countless Americans,” Bondi continued. “The DOJ has seized over $700 million of Maduro-linked assets, including two private jets, 9 vehicles, and more. Yet Maduro’s reign of terror continues. He is one of the largest narco traffickers in the world and a threat to our national security.”
The reward is a doubling of an existing $25 million reward.
In concluding her remarks, Bondi vowed that “under President Trump’s leadership, Maduro will not escape justice, and he will be held accountable for his despicable crimes.”
