A 24-year-old Georgia man has been charged with murder in the shooting death of his father earlier this week.
Tristin Hiram Scudder also faces an aggravated assault charge, WCTV reported.
The Thomas County Sheriff’s Office said Scudder called 911 himself to report the fatal shooting on Wednesday, and he was taken into custody when deputies arrived, WALB said.
The victim was identified as 46-year-old Franklin Hiram Scudder.
“Tristin Scudder reported his father, Franklin Scudder, had come to his residence and created a disturbance,” an incident report said. “Tristin further advised that during the altercation, his father attempted to take his firearm from him, and he subsequently shot his father in the back. Tristin stated that his father was now unresponsive.”
Police did not say what the “disturbance” was about, why the younger Scudder drew a gun, or how he managed to shoot his father in the back if he was trying to take the gun away.
Deputies also charged the shooter with possession of a firearm in commission of a crime.
He appeared in court on Thursday and was denied bond.
