An active shooter near the CDC campus and Emory University in Atlanta has left a DeKalb County police officer deceased. The shooting began around 4:50 p.m. at a CVS across from the CDC. Officers found the suspect on the second floor, where he was pronounced dead. No CDC staff or children at the on-site daycare were harmed. Multiple law enforcement agencies responded within minutes, and investigators are working to determine if the CDC was targeted and what the shooter’s motive was.
