Senior leaders in the Trump administration are reportedly considering a high-profile media strategy to address lingering public concern over the Jeffrey Epstein case.
The approach could include a public release of audio and transcripts from an interview with convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell, and may involve megastar podcaster Joe Rogan as a central figure in the administration’s messaging effort.
Sources familiar with internal discussions told CNN that Vice President JD Vance is planning to host a private strategy meeting at his residence on Wednesday evening.
The gathering will include Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel.
Three sources have said that this group represents the administration’s core decision-makers shaping its response to the Epstein-Maxwell matter.
The focus of the meeting will be whether to release audio recordings and a transcript of a Justice Department interview conducted with Maxwell by Blanche.
Last month, Blanche met with Maxwell, a longtime associate of Epstein, at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Tallahassee, Florida.
Department of Justice officials have been working to transcribe and redact over 10 hours of recorded content from that conversation, according to CNN.
Administration officials are debating whether the public release of this material will revive the Epstein scandal or provide long-sought transparency.
One of the key objectives of Wednesday’s meeting is to craft a unified response to questions surrounding the handling of the Epstein case, the Maxwell interview, and public demands for disclosure.
Among the media options being considered is a coordinated rollout that may include a press conference or a guest appearance by Blanche on a major media platform.
Three individuals close to the talks said aides have suggested approaching Joe Rogan to host or amplify the release, The Daily Beast reported.
Rogan, who has previously endorsed Donald Trump in the 2024 election, has also criticized aspects of the administration’s approach to the Epstein files.
Officials believe Rogan’s massive audience and influence—especially among independents and younger male voters—could help the administration control the narrative and signal transparency, while countering mainstream media criticism.
Rogan’s platform, “The Joe Rogan Experience,” consistently ranks among the most-watched and listened-to shows in the world.
The Epstein case remains a sensitive issue for many in the Trump orbit.
Epstein died in federal custody in August 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges involving minors.
His death was officially ruled a suicide, but it has fueled widespread conspiracy theories that he was murdered to protect powerful individuals, including former presidents Donald Trump and Bill Clinton, as well as Britain’s Prince Andrew.
Earlier this year, the Trump administration released declassified documents related to Epstein. However, those documents were heavily redacted and revealed few new details.
A joint memo from the DOJ and FBI in July stated that no further material would be released, prompting criticism from conservative media and Trump’s base.
In recent months, pressure has mounted from MAGA-aligned influencers and voters calling for the full release of Epstein-related materials.
Some Trump supporters argue that withholding information gives ammunition to political opponents and conspiracy theorists.
Others believe releasing the Maxwell interview could be a turning point in restoring public trust.
Two officials told CNN that the Maxwell interview materials could be released as early as this week, though no final decision has been made.
The risk of political backlash, legal consequences, and potential harm to unnamed individuals mentioned in the recordings remains a central point of debate.
White House Communications Director Steven Cheung responded to CNN’s inquiries by dismissing the network’s reporting.
“This is nothing more than CNN trying desperately to create news out of old news,” Cheung said.
“[Trump] already addressed this issue in an interview with Newsmax, a real news outlet that routinely gets better ratings than CNN.”
The Beast further noted that President Trump discussed the matter during an interview with Newsmax last week.
When asked about the Blanche–Maxwell meeting, he said: “I don’t know, because I haven’t spoken about it, but he’s a very talented guy, Todd Blanche, and a very straight shooter, and I think he probably wanted to know, you know, just to get a feeling of it, because we’d like to release everything, but we don’t want people to get hurt that shouldn’t be hurt.”
“And I would assume that was why he was there. I want to release everything. I just don’t want people to get hurt.”
