It’s been coming for a while and now it seems inevitable. A perfect storm sets the stage. A young smiling social media man-child Communist star meets a pathetic democrat party with a 19% approval rating and in desperate need of leader.
For some time now the democrat party has been leaning more and more left. Nowhere is this more obvious than with illegal immigration. In his 1995 SOTU Bill Clinton said:
“All Americans, not only in the states most heavily affected but in every place in this country, are rightly disturbed by the large numbers of illegal aliens entering our country. The jobs they hold might otherwise be held by citizens or legal immigrants. The public service they use impose burdens on our taxpayers. That’s why our administration has moved aggressively to secure our borders more by hiring a record number of new border guards, by deporting twice as many criminal aliens as ever before, by cracking down on illegal hiring, by barring welfare benefits to illegal aliens.”
“People who enter the United States without our permission are illegal aliens and illegal aliens should not be treated the same as people who enter the U.S. legally. Illegal immigration is wrong, plain and simple. Until the American people are convinced that we will stop future flows of illegal immigration, we will make no progress on dealing with the millions of illegal immigrants who are here now. “When we use phrases like undocumented workers we convey a message to the American people that their government is not serious about combating illegal immigration which the American people overwhelmingly oppose. If you don’t think it’s illegal you’re not going to say it. I think it is illegal and wrong.””
In 2005 Obama said:“We simply cannot allow people to pour into the United States undetected, undocumented, unchecked, and circumventing the line of people who are waiting patiently, diligently and lawfully to become immigrants into this country.”
“Because we do need to address the issue of immigration and the challenge we have of undocumented people in our country. We certainly do not want any more coming in.”
Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani has catapulted into second place in this year’s New York City mayoral race by promising free buses, no-cost childcare and city-run grocery stores.
He’ll have a tough time paying the tab.
To fund his vision, the state legislator wants to conjure up $10 billion in new revenue through higher taxes on businesses and wealthy New Yorkers. But beneath the sheen of that populist platform is a morass of necessary state approvals that threaten his plans coming to fruition.
The NY Post lays out the likely disaster scenario that would follow a Mamdani election:
Among many other pledges, Mamdani aims to “permanently eliminate the fare” on city buses and to make CUNY “tuition-free.”
These are the cheaper of his giveaways, each with sticker prices just shy of $1 billion.
Of course, nuking fares or tuition doesn’t mean decent service: Many cities that made buses free soon found that they became mobile homeless shelters — and more riders would push up the cost of services, too.
A Mayor Mamdani would have to spend more money than planned, provide less service than promised, or both.
This is basic economics — and Mamdani correctly recognizes that winning elections today hinges more than ever on convincing the electorate to ignore such constraints.
The cost of that ignorance will be massive, and not just because Mamdani’s proposed $9 billion tax hike — a steep jump that would inevitably fuel outmigration — isn’t nearly enough to cover his spending plans.
Worse yet is the extent to which Mamdani risks harming working-class New Yorkers as he attempts to reconfigure the city economy.
His bigger-ticket items — a freeze on rents and “free childcare for every New Yorker” up to age 5, provided at wages “at parity with public school teachers” — are so enormously extravagant that his campaign hasn’t even ballparked their totals or economic impacts.
Both would be guaranteed to cause major market distortions, with working New Yorkers as collateral damage.
Freezing rents on the city’s regulated units would do nothing to address the city’s fundamental housing problem: its supply shortage.
In fact, by discouraging existing tenants from leaving their sweetheart deals, it would make it harder for others to find a place to live.
There’s more at the link.
One of the more entertaining Mamdani proposals is city owned grocery stores. Kansas City experimented with this and it did not fare well:
Kansas City is staring down a failed experiment. Nearly a decade ago, the city spent $17 million to buy and renovate the Linwood Shopping Center on Prospect Avenue. The anchor tenant, Sun Fresh Market, opened in 2018 with fresh produce, seafood, and a full-service deli. It was supposed to end the food desert. It’s now on life support.
The store lost $885,000 last year. Shelves are bare. Refrigerators sit empty. Foot traffic collapsed from 14,000 weekly to under 4,000. The city injected $750,000 in emergency funding this spring. That money was meant to restock inventory and fix broken air conditioning. It hasn’t reversed the trend.
“I mean this is silly,” Catsimatidis told Fox News. “The same con game happened in Cuba with Fidel Castro. The same con game happened in Venezuela. [You] promise people everything. You’re going to get everything for nothing.”
“Well, the people in Venezuela are starving,” Catsimatidis explained. “The people in Cuba are starving. It’s just one big con game. And I think the American people, I think New Yorkers, especially New Yorkers, they’re smart, they’re going to realize this right away.”
Mamdani is a wild-eyed privileged idealist nepo baby who has never really had significant employment. Mom and Dad are quite wealthy. His youth and grandiose promises are reminiscent of Che Guevara and Fidel Castro, and that seems to be an appeal to the democrat party. Of course, he has the support of the lunatics in The Squad. Pramila Jayapal:
Jayapal, after AOC’s breakfast meeting with Mamdani:
Any Democrat not endorsing this “incredible, dynamic leader is missing an opportunity.”

But more are joining. Mamadani has been embraced by two significant members of Congress: Elissa Slotkin and Elizabeth Warren.

Slotkin was a CIA analyst and now she supports a Communist. John Brennan also once voted for a Communist. That says something to me about the CIA.
Warren says Mamdani represents the democrat party message:
Elizabeth Warren says Mamdani’s plan is the “Democratic Message”
So just to be clear, this is the official democratic message:
– Defund the police
– Release all the criminals from prison
– Disarm law abiding citizens
– seize your property
– free child m*tiIation
– ban ICE pic.twitter.com/13YTGI3TWO— Libs of TikTok (@libsoftiktok) August 4, 2025
Newt Gingrich said this about Warren:
Senator Warren, who holds the same Senate seat once held by John F. Kennedy but she has endorsed the avowed socialist-Communist Zohran Mamdani for Mayor of New York. Kennedy declared, in his 1961 Inaugural Address, that America would “pay any price, bear any burden” to stop communism. By supporting Mandami, Warren has proven once again how far the radical left has taken the Democratic Party from the party of JFK.
John Stossel had some thought on Mamdani’s “socialism”:
A socialist will likely be my next mayor!
I don’t often report on local politics, but I make exception for Zohran Mamdani because people BELIEVE in him. He got a record number of votes in the primary!
Yet what he believes is just so STUPID.
Here’s why: pic.twitter.com/C0Se4S5PGR

Stupid, indeed. And this is where the democrat party is enthusiastically heading. For the moment, there are some like Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries who reluctant to join the madness but mark my words, if Mamdani wins the mayoralty they too will board the SS Communism.
Then all future political races will pit Republicans against Communists. New York City is the largest of all canaries in the US mine.
