Decades of Los Angeles progressives electing progressive politicians to enact progressive policies in Los Angeles have left the city a crime-riddled hellhole. Flash mobs, carjackings, muggings… turns out when you don’t prosecute crime or enforce laws, it can have an adverse effect on your quality of life. Well, you can add mail thievery to the list. One block had had enough and caught the Studio City Mailbox Marauder in the act.
Unfortunately, the guy got away and is still on the loose, but not until we got some entertaining content out of it. It’s always enjoyable to watch someone get pepper-sprayed as long as you are the one at the wrong end of the canister.
“I popped up to film him… and he tried to swat the phone away… He went to swing, missed, I sprayed him again. He swung and missed and then I was like alright, I’m going to unload it. That didn’t work, so then he charged at me.”
Be on the lookout for a man with a very specific look. I’m not one for hyperbole, but this might be the greatest description I’ve heard about anyone ever.
“He looked like Sloth from the Goonies had a baby with Shrek.”
The Mailbox Marauder. One of the neighbors had a plan to hold him there, but police apparently didn’t think it was a good idea.
“I was gonna duct tape him to the telephone pole, but police said ‘No, that’s bad.'”
Unclear is what the Mailbox Mauruader was expecting to do with the mail. It’s not like people regulary get checks in the mail these days now that direct deposit is a thing. But, then again, my dude doesn’t look all that bright. He’s wearing a reflective vest to sneak around stealing people’s mail.
