The pro-life community in Louisiana has a reason to celebrate this week. With Planned Parenthood shutting down its last two centers there, the Bayou State is free of the radical abortion business!
That’s something Ben Clapper, the executive director of Louisiana Right to Life, told LifeNews this week that he is celebrating.
“We have incredible news to share,” he told LifeNews. “Planned Parenthood has just announced they are leaving Louisiana.”
“Effective September 30th, Planned Parenthood will close both its New Orleans and Baton Rouge facilities. What a powerful victory for life,” he added.
“Planned Parenthood, a national abortion business, has long pushed its abortion agenda in Louisiana. When they built their New Orleans facility, they intended it to become a mega-abortion center, aiming to perform 2,844 abortions every year. But thanks to our united efforts, not a single abortion was ever performed there. Now, that facility is shutting down,” the pro-life leader continued.

“Today’s announcement further confirms what we’ve always known: abortion and profit, not healthcare, are Planned Parenthood’s priorities. Planned Parenthood could easily remain in Louisiana to provide healthcare to women if they just chose to stop performing abortions. But instead, they are choosing to leave entirely,” Clapper said.
Clapper says the pro-life group still has more work to do – to make sure abortion pills are not illegal sold in Louisiana, to help women considering travelling to other states to consider abortions to have their baby instead, and to fight at the federal level to stop abortions.
“The pro-life movement, however, is here to stay. We will continue to love and serve both mother and child,” he explained.
He also says he will counter a false narrative that somehow this hurts women.
“Over the coming days, the media and abortion advocates will likely frame this as a loss for women in Louisiana. We must be ready to set the record straight,” he said. “With more than 30 pregnancy resource centers across our state and many public and private healthcare providers, women have access to compassionate care, essential medical services, and real support.”
Clapper thanks pro-life people across the state for making the victories possible.
“To each of you who have prayed, volunteered, given, and stood with us—thank you! We know there is still much to do: supporting moms, saving babies, ending the abortion pill crisis, and changing hearts. But tonight, we celebrate a tremendous victory for life in Louisiana,” he concluded.
