In a political stunt dripping with hypocrisy and privilege, over 30 Texas Democrats have fled the state—again—to block redistricting efforts led by Gov. Greg Abbott. But this time, they didn’t just skip town. They chartered a $47 million Embraer ERJ-170 luxury jet, costing nearly $100,000 for a single flight to Chicago.
That’s $17,000 per hour to play legislative hooky.
These are the same Democrats who scream about “climate change,” demand Americans give up gas stoves and SUVs, and push for “equity”—yet they jetted off maskless in a luxury aircraft on the taxpayer dime or worse, possibly lobbyist cash.
Where’s the transparency? Where’s the accountability? Texas Republicans should immediately launch an emergency investigation into who footed the bill for this seditious charade. Did dark money fund this? Did Pritzker’s office play a role? Or are leftist donors quietly bankrolling the escape?
Back in 2021, these same Democrats fled to D.C. to block election reform, wasting time and money with their cringeworthy drama and group singalongs. Now, they’re back at it—only this time it’s even more out-of-touch.
Let’s be honest: if Republicans had done this, the media would be howling about “sedition” and “insurrection.” But since it’s Democrats, we get silence and fawning coverage.
In their effort to retain control of power, Texas Democrats in the House have fled the state. In doing so they’re blocking any chance of passing desperately needed flood relief legislation in Texas. Instead of staying in Austin to do their jobs they took a private jet to Illinois to focus on fundraising for the midterms. Shame on you Democrats. Shame.
Meanwhile, Gov. Abbott is playing hardball. He’s already warned that if the runaway Dems don’t return by 3 PM tomorrow, he’ll move to declare their seats vacant and replace them. Texas law also allows for arresting AWOL lawmakers—and Attorney General Ken Paxton is ready to act.
No masks. No shame. No consequences. Just luxury, lies, and leftist theatrics.
If this isn’t sedition wrapped in privilege, what is?
