A Trump supporter was forcibly removed from a St. Louis City SC soccer game for wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat.
Michael Weitzel recorded his ejection from the stadium after being confronted by security over his MAGA cap.
The incident was captured on video and shared on social media platform X on Saturday, quickly gaining attention from viewers nationwide.
“I am being evicted from the premises because of Donald Trump—because we can’t wear Donald Trump hats in public,” Weitzel stated in the footage while being escorted out by stadium personnel.
Stadium security informed Weitzel that his hat violated the venue’s policy prohibiting political statements of any kind.
A police officer accompanied him during the removal process to ensure compliance with the directive.
“Now I am being evicted from the premises. Trump is not welcome at St. Louis City SC club. Trump is not welcome here. I’m being asked to leave by the police. I am being threatened with arrest. They are asking me to leave,” Weitzel said in the video recording.
The fan acknowledged that the officer was simply enforcing existing stadium regulations rather than making a personal judgment.
“He gets it, he’s just following the rules,” Weitzel commented about the police officer.
“It’s not his fault. This is the stadium’s rules here.”
Other fans in the stadium could be heard booing and jeering during the incident, with crowd reactions audible in the background of the recording.
The exact date of the ejection remains unclear from available information.
Stadium officials cited established policies when confronted about the removal. Security personnel explained the enforcement procedures to Weitzel during the confrontation.
Major League Soccer (MLS) maintains a comprehensive fan code of conduct that explicitly prohibits “displaying signs, symbols or images for commercial purposes or for electioneering, campaigning or advocating for or against any candidate, political party, legislative issue, or government action.”
The league’s policy covers all forms of political expression within stadium premises during official events.
This includes clothing, signs, banners, and other materials deemed political in nature.
St. Louis City SC directed inquiries to these established guidelines and declined to provide additional commentary on the specific incident involving Weitzel.
Security personnel informed Weitzel that the ban applied only to that particular game, with future stadium entry still permitted provided he complied with dress code policies.
The fan was not arrested or charged with any criminal offense following his removal from the premises.
Rift News highlighted that he was simply escorted out and told he could return for future games.
Reports indicate the video is under review by the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division, though no official confirmation has been provided by the department regarding any potential investigation.
WATCH:
This incident represents part of a broader pattern of similar confrontations at sporting events across the country involving political merchandise and clothing.
The Daily Mail previously reported that in October 2024, San Francisco 49ers fans said they were denied entry to Levi’s Stadium while wearing Trump merchandise.
Security demanded they remove their MAGA hat or leave the premises entirely.
The 49ers fans engaged in a 45-minute dispute with security personnel before ultimately being allowed entry, though they missed a significant portion of the game due to the extended delay.
Stadium security initially refused to allow the fans past the entrance gates while wearing the political merchandise. The confrontation lasted nearly an hour before resolution.
That same month, 49ers guard Nick Bosa wore a MAGA cap during a televised post-game interview following his team’s victory over the Dallas Cowboys on national television.
The NFL subsequently fined Bosa $11,255 for violating league rules against personal messages during game-day appearances and media obligations, per CNN.
League officials determined that Bosa’s cap violated policies regarding political statements during official NFL activities and media events.
