HOUSTON, TX – Authorities are shedding light on a harrowing incident involving a 12-year-old girl and her brother, who were both shot in northwest Harris County. The suspect, Willie Simpson III, has been apprehended and faces multiple serious charges.
Investigators report that Simpson, who was in a relationship with the children’s mother, was arrested following a coordinated effort by law enforcement. He now faces five felony charges, including aggravated assault of a family member and unlawful possession of a firearm.
According to newly released court documents, Simpson arrived at the Timber Creek Place Apartments and encountered the woman’s teenage sons, aged 16 and 19. After a brief phone call with their mother, Simpson allegedly threatened the boys, prompting them to flee before he opened fire. The 19-year-old was struck in the abdomen, while the 16-year-old managed to escape by jumping from a second-floor balcony.
The violence escalated when a 12-year-old girl, another child of the mother, returned from the pool. Court records state that Simpson forced his way into the bathroom where she was changing and shot her.
A 13-year-old sibling was also present during the attack but managed to hide under clothes, avoiding detection. Investigators uncovered text messages from Simpson to the mother, threatening harm to her children unless she returned home.
Simpson appeared in court, where a judge set his bond at $350,000. He is scheduled for another court appearance soon.
Authorities continue to investigate as this distressing case unfolds.
