Kamala Harris Says She Would’ve Done Things Differently in 2024 Campaign

Former Vice President Kamala Harris admitted on national television that she would’ve done some things differently in her failed 2024 campaign, but when asked what those things were, she declined to give any answers.

Appearing Thursday on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Harris was vague about her regrets and repeatedly pointed viewers to her upcoming memoir 107 Days, avoiding any meaningful explanation of what went wrong.

“There are things I would do differently, and again, read the book,” she told Colbert when pressed about the failed run. But instead of listing even one change, Harris launched into a rambling tribute to her staff, saying, “None of us achieves any success, certainly for me, without having an incredible team.”

She then doubled down on praise for her campaign, which lost traction early and never recovered. “I don’t regret a day,” Harris insisted, contradicting her earlier admission: “They left it all on the field.”

Despite the mix of claims — that she has regrets, but wouldn’t change anything — Harris provided no further clarification before Colbert changed the subject, per Fox News.

Harris’ appearance was meant to promote her new campaign memoir, which offers a behind-the-scenes account of her 2024 loss and rapid pivot to the Democratic nomination after then-President Joe Biden withdrew.

Colbert pressed Harris on when she realized she might have to replace Biden at the top of the ticket, especially after his disastrous first debate. But Harris deflected again, pivoting to praise for Biden’s “integrity” and commitment to the “rule of law.”

“I have an incredible amount of respect for him,” Harris said, avoiding any real comment about his mental state or political standing at the time.

When Biden dropped out of the race last July, Harris quickly became the nominee — largely unopposed — despite weak polling and poor turnout during her own campaign. She’s now trying to reshape the narrative with her book, but her refusal to engage with any substantive questions continues to raise eyebrows.

Fox News highlighted the mixed messaging from the interview, with Harris admitting she would’ve done things differently while refusing to say what. Critics on social media mocked the appearance as another example of Harris being all talk and no answers.

“She couldn’t even say what she regrets. Just kept promoting the book,” one user wrote on X.

This isn’t the first time Harris has dodged pointed questions. She previously refused to say who was leading the Democratic Party during an earlier interview with Colbert, drawing more criticism for being evasive at key moments.

The former vice president also recently ruled out a run for California governor in 2026, a sign that her political ambitions may now be focused solely on keeping the Democratic nomination — and salvaging what’s left of her national image.
