Democrats are ramping up for the midterm elections, but it seems like their platform is based on faith rather than policy.
One of the most significant issues that voters used to decide the 2024 presidential election was illegal immigration. The ceaseless flood of humanity over the southern border of the United States was too much for even sanctuary cities and blue states to handle. As left-leaning voters grew more fed up with then-President Joe Biden’s lack of action on the crisis, the party’s chances of re-election swirled the drain.
Now, like an ex who wants you to believe they’re finally ready to get serious, Democrats are trying to convince voters they have a new “plan” to deal with immigration:

Democrat political consultant Neera Tanden joined RealClearPolitics to run damage control for the party’s image.
“Why should the public trust Democrats on border security now, in relation to all those other immigration fixes that you mentioned – asylum and visas – but when Biden seemed to refuse to acknowledge the problem in those early days?” the interviewer asked.
“I think the reason why people should trust Democrats is they should really look at the plan and look at the- Like, look at what we’re proposing. And, you know, I totally take this point but I think the idea here is that we’re offering an actual fix. A true fix to asylum, to the asylum challenge takes legislation,” she explained. “The reason why that is, it is in legislation that people can come to the border and claim asylum. So if we want to have a permanent fix, it takes an actual plan to fix that and a proposal.”
“I think the real challenge during the Biden administration is that it was hard to imagine 60 votes for an immigration plan to fix a lot of these problems,” Tanden added. “And you’re absolutely right, we can get into semantics about the past and discuss whether it was a crisis at one point or not. I’m here to just say, I fully understand this was a crisis, and I think that we have to solve this problem, but there are many problems in the immigration system. There is a problem, there has been a problem at the border. There is also a problem that it takes 15 years to address the backlogs of green cards. And that is also a problem in our immigration system and we should fix that problem as well. And we fundamentally believe that to get trust on immigration, Democrats are going to have to offer solutions that actually fix the problem.”
