A bombshell criminal referral has been filed against former FBI Director Christopher Wray, with a watchdog group accusing him of perjury, obstruction, and covering up two major scandals to protect Joe Biden.
The Washington-based Oversight Project referred Wray to the Department of Justice and the FBI for allegedly lying to Congress about both the FBI’s anti-Catholic memo and a Chinese operation to interfere in the 2020 election.
The group says Wray stonewalled investigations and deliberately gave false testimony to Congress to hide politically damaging facts.
“This is obstruction. This is perjury. This is a cover-up,” said Oversight Project President Mike Howell.
One of the main allegations centers on a scheme by Chinese nationals to distribute fake driver’s licenses to influence the 2020 election in favor of then-candidate Joe Biden.
According to current FBI Director Kash Patel, Wray helped bury the intelligence to protect Biden, per Trending Politics.
Patel said an Internal Intelligence Report proving Chinese interference was published and then mysteriously “recalled” without explanation by the FBI’s Albany field office.
That directly contradicts Wray’s sworn testimony in which he claimed China wasn’t trying to undermine the election.
Declassified documents given to Senator Chuck Grassley back up Patel’s account. They show senior FBI officials knew about the Chinese plot and actively suppressed it.
“This wasn’t a misunderstanding. This was a deliberate act to cover up the truth,” Patel told the Daily Mail.
The referral also blasts Wray over his false claims about the infamous anti-Catholic memo from the Richmond FBI office. That memo targeted traditional Catholics as possible “violent extremists” and relied on research from the far-left Southern Poverty Law Center.
Wray previously testified the memo was a “single product by a single field office” and that he removed it from the system immediately. But newly uncovered records tell a very different story.
“Based on records I released the other week, there wasn’t just one FBI document that used biased anti-Catholic sources, but over a dozen,” Grassley revealed. “And more FBI field offices were involved than we’d been led to believe.”
Grassley also found a second, draft memo on Catholic “extremism” that Wray never disclosed. That document was intended for full distribution across the FBI in the form of a Strategic Perspective Executive Analytic Report, or SPEAR.
The Oversight Project says Wray’s failure to disclose the second document proves he lied to lawmakers and obstructed congressional oversight.
“Director Wray’s testimony was inaccurate not only because it failed to reveal the scope of the memo’s production and dissemination, but also because it failed to reveal the existence of a second, draft product,” the group said.
The referral accuses Wray of perjury, obstruction of proceedings before Congress, and making false statements—serious charges that could lead to prosecution if the DOJ acts.
