A longtime former Biden aide and adviser admitted this week that he would have earned $8 million if former President Joe Biden had been reelected to office.
Former senior Biden adviser Mike Donilon made the admission while testifying during a closed-door hearing before the House Oversight Committee on Thursday.
He said he earned $4 million working for Biden’s 2024 campaign and would have received another $4 million had the former president been reelected, according to a source who spoke with Fox News.

Recall that the former president dropped out of the 2024 race after current President Donald Trump crushed him in a debate and his fellow Democrats began pressuring him to leave on account of him being so old.
Donilon said he “believes the punditry and Democrats in Congress overreacted” to the former president’s debate performance and that, if anything, Biden’s communication skills only “got stronger” during his four years in office from 2001 to early 2025.
“I was with President Joe Biden from his first day in office to the last day,” he said. “What I saw, day in and day out, was a leader who was deeply engaged and in command on critical issues, both at home and abroad.”
“Every president ages over the four years of a presidency and President Biden did as well, but he also continued to grow stronger and wiser as a leader as a result of being tested by some of the most difficult challenges any president has ever faced,” he added.
“I thought that experience was enormously valuable for the nation. I believed that President Biden was the best person to lead the country on the day he took the oath of office and I continued to believe that was true every day he served as President,” he concluded.
Some critics have accused him of being a liar:
Now we know the selfish reason why Mike Donilon constantly lied to President Biden about his horrific polls.

But at the same time, Donilon did acknowledge some of the criticism.
“During his interview, Mr. Donilon admitted that Joe Biden’s presence wasn’t as commanding, and he could stumble over mere words,” Fox News’ source said.
“Mr. Donilon stated he was frustrated and knew it was difficult to get past the visuals of President Biden that people were seeing,” the source added.
Donilon was called to testify before the House Oversight Committee as per committee chairman James Comer’s investigation into whether Biden’s aides concealed the former president’s declining health and whether Biden’s executive actions were signed by “autopen.”
“You were reportedly responsible for erecting a wall between the former president and senators ‘to shield Biden from bad information,’” Comer wrote to Donilon in June. “Recently, during an event at Harvard University, you displayed your willingness to speak about the former president’s cognition but you reportedly ‘denounced claims that the president’s acuity and judgment declined.’”
“The scope of your responsibilities—both official and otherwise—and personal interactions within the Oval Office cannot go without investigation. If White House staff carried out a strategy lasting months or even years to hide the chief executive’s condition—or to perform his duties—Congress may need to consider a legislative response,” Comer added.
Donilon is one of several longtime Biden aides who’ve been compelled to testify in recent days. A previous aide, Ashley Williams, voluntarily agreed to answer questions from Congress but had little to say besides “I don’t recall” when the time for her own closed-door hearing came.

“Examples include she could not recall if she spoke with President Biden in the last week, if teleprompters were used for Cabinet meetings, if there were discussions about President Biden using a wheelchair, if there were discussions about a cognitive test, if she discussed a mental or physical decline of President Biden, if she ever had to wake President Biden up and how she got involved with his 2020 campaign,” a source told Fox News.
