President Donald Trump oversaw the installation of two massive new flagpoles on the White House grounds.
He called the project “beautiful” and “the real deal,” as he continues to reshape the historic residence to reflect his personal style.

Workers erected the towering flagpoles on the North and South Lawns, using cranes to position the structures that now prominently display the American flag.
Trump, who has long favored larger, more dramatic displays, personally attended the South Lawn installation and returned later to salute as the stars and stripes were raised for the first time.
“It’s such a beautiful pole,” Trump said, noting that the new design features an interior rope system to prevent the clanging noise that he dislikes on the flagpoles at Mar-a-Lago, his private Florida club. He proudly added that the poles extend nine feet into the ground for stability.
Rose Garden

The new flagpoles mark the most visible exterior change to the White House since Trump’s return to office and are part of a broader series of updates. Inside, the Oval Office has been refitted with gold accents, additional presidential portraits, and a display of the Declaration of Independence. On the grounds, the Rose Garden is being paved over to avoid muddy conditions, which Trump said made press events difficult, especially for women wearing high heels.
“You know, we use [the Rose Garden] for press conferences, and it doesn’t work because the people fall,” he told Fox News in March. “The terrain can be wet, and the soft ground can be an issue… Women with the high heels, it just didn’t work.”
White House ballroom

Trump also teased future construction plans, including a new White House ballroom. In a post on Truth Social, he described the upcoming project as a “wonderful addition” and an example of the “fun projects” he undertakes while simultaneously thinking about global affairs, including “the World Economy, the United States, China, Russia, and lots of other Countries, places, and events.”
The president’s presence at the flagpole installation came amid growing international tensions, including the escalating conflict between Iran and Israel and questions about potential U.S. involvement. Still, Trump made clear that he relishes hands-on engagement with construction, a hallmark of his real estate career.
“I love construction,” he said. “I know it better than anybody.”
Trump’s White House

The combination of new flagpoles, Rose Garden renovations, and ballroom plans reflects Trump’s vision of a more lavish and practical White House — one that aligns closer to the opulent style of Mar-a-Lago while maintaining its symbolic role as the nation’s most famous residence.
