OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is going a different way since privacy regulators don’t trust his iris-scanning ID solution. He is now going to the financial industry to sell World ID, a digital identification platform that is based on the idea that AI has made it impossible to discern people apart from computers. It’s a way to fix a problem that AI itself has caused.
At a US Federal Reserve seminar about banking regulation, Altman said that his biometric identity project was necessary for living in a world where digital fraud is expanding quickly.
He said that most authentication systems are no longer useful. Altman said, “AI has completely beaten most of the ways people authenticate, like all these fancy ways like taking a selfie, waving, or doing your voice or whatever.” He went on to say, “I’m really worried that we have a big fraud crisis coming up.”
Altman’s solution is World ID, a global digital identity system that employs iris scans to confirm people’s identities and maintains this information on blockchain technology.
The platform is advertised as a solution to stop AI-enabled fraud, especially in banking institutions that still use outdated biometric approaches.
He said, “A thing that scares me is that it seems like some banks will accept the voiceprint as proof of identity.” That’s a really dumb thing to do. AI has totally won that.
Biometric Update was the first to notice that his messages made AI seem like an unstoppable and frightening force that is moving quicker than most people know. He was really excited about a future shaped by AI, saying it might be even more powerful than the internet in terms of changing things.
He used a slogan commonly linked to nuclear optimism to say, “intelligence too cheap to meter,” and he admitted that while fully functional humanoid robots are still a long way off, progress is being made in that regard.
This idea aligns perfectly with what Silicon Valley usually does: push disruptive technology hard, make the disruption seem normal, and then sell your own product as the only way to stay safe.
Altman’s point is very clear. AI has made traditional verification techniques useless, and his biometric ID system is the only way to prove that someone is who they say they are.
But there are still a lot of privacy concerns with World ID that haven’t been fully addressed. Connecting your digital identity to a biometric scan brings up big problems about privacy, data storage, and personal freedom.
Regulators in various countries have previously raised concerns about the project’s privacy claims, and in some cases, they have even ordered it to be put on hold.
Altman tried to ease resistance by bringing up the idea that new technologies always face initial doubt. He remembered how his granddad was amazed by the calculator and how he felt when Google came out when he was in school. He used these stories to show that AI’s expanding role in education is part of a larger trend in human evolution.
There were still some people in the room who weren’t sure. One person asked Altman what he would say to people who are worried about AI systems learning patterns and making choices that society might not agree with. Altman avoided the issue after spending half an hour talking about how groundbreaking the technology was. He said, “This is very far outside of my area of expertise.”
2 Thessalonians 2: 9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
[CMC: What does LOVE OF THE TRUTH MEAN? It means one who seeks the truth no mater to where it leads, no matter the cost. It means one who seeks the truth even if it proves he/she is/was wrong. It means one who researches, reads, listens, prays, and studies to be approved and then shares it. According to the Scripture above, one who does not love the truth and takes pleasure in unrighteousness will be condemned!]
After the fall in The Garden of Eden (1st angelic invasion-Genesis 3) there was a second invasion at Mount Hermon consisting of 200 rebel, fallen, angelic beings a.k.a. The Watchers. The primary leaders of this 2nd invasion were: Semjâzâ and Azâzêl. Directly under them were: Sêmîazâz, Arâkîba, Râmêêl, Kôkabîêl, Tâmîêl, Râmîêl, Dânêl, Êzêqêêl, Barâqîjâl, Asâêl, Armârôs, Batârêl, Anânêl, Zaqîêl, Samsâpêêl, Satarêl, Tûrêl, Jômjâêl, Sariêl.
