Another victim of the shooting in Manhattan on Monday has been identified as Aland Etienne, a security guard.
“We extend our deep condolences to the families and friends who lost loved ones tonight, including that of our own 32BJ SEIU security member Aland Etienne, a dedicated security officer who took his job duties extremely seriously,” 32BJ SEIU President Manny Pastreich said in a statement.
Etienne was working as a security officer at the office building on Park Avenue where four people were killed in a shooting. The building contains offices for the NFL, Blackstone and Rudin Management. Blackstone identified one of the victims as executive Wesley LePatner.
Another victim has been identified as NYPD Officer Didarul Islam, who was working private detail. An NFL employee was also shot but survived the incident, according to the NYPD.
“This tragedy speaks to the sacrifice of security officers who risk their lives every day to keep New Yorkers and our buildings safe,” Pastreich said. “Every time a security officer puts on their uniform, they put their lives on the line.”
The gunman, identified by police as Shane Tamura, shot himself in the chest and died at the scene, police said.
