President Donald Trump clarified his previous comments about banning Jeffrey Epstein from Mar-a-Lago, saying the late financier was removed from the property not just for being a “creep,” but for actively “stealing” women who worked at Trump’s club.
“People were taken out of the spa, hired by him. In other words, gone,” Trump said aboard Air Force One.
“When I heard about it, I told him, I said, listen, we don’t want you taking our people, whether it’s spa or not spa… And he was fine. And not too long after he did it again. And I said outta here,” he added.
“I have a great spa. One of the best spas in the world at Mar-a-Lago,” he continued.
That statement comes a day after Trump said Epstein “stole people who worked for me,” which was the first detailed explanation of his relationship with Epstein since the White House said Epstein had been banned for inappropriate behavior.
When asked directly whether it was about Epstein being a “creep” or for poaching his staff, Trump replied, “Well, maybe they’re the same thing, sort of a little bit of the same thing.”
“He took people that worked for me and I told him don’t do it anymore and he did it so I said stay the hell out of here,” Trump said, per Trending Politics.
Trump’s spokesman had previously used the word “creep” to describe Epstein’s behavior, but media outlets had claimed Trump’s new comments contradicted that. Trump disagreed, saying both are true.
When asked whether Virginia Giuffre was one of the women Epstein “poached,” Trump said, “I think so. I think that was one of the people.”
“And by the way, she had no complaints about us whatsoever,” he added.
Giuffre, who died by suicide earlier this year, worked briefly at Mar-a-Lago. She had been a key accuser in Epstein’s sex trafficking scandal.
Trump’s remarks come as scrutiny grows over the Epstein investigation.
Attorney General Pam Bondi announced that no client list was found, despite previously suggesting one existed.
That revelation came after the Department of Justice ended its investigation without further charges or public disclosures.
Trump said he directed Bondi to “open up more files,” but that effort was stalled after a federal judge blocked her attempt to unseal grand jury evidence from before Epstein’s 2019 arrest.
The story first broke Monday when Trump said Epstein “stole” his workers, then doubled down Tuesday by explaining how it happened.
According to Trump, Epstein lured staff away from the spa at Mar-a-Lago and tried to rehire them for his own purposes.
“He did it once, I told him don’t, and he did it again. That was it,” Trump said. “We threw him out.”
Trump has distanced himself from Epstein for years, often reminding people that he was the only one who publicly banned Epstein from his property before the sex trafficking charges ever surfaced.
