Because we live in the stupidest era ever, progressives are mad over an American Eagle denim ad campaign featuring actress Sydney Sweeney.
Sweeney, for those not in the know, is an actual female who is pretty and she has boobs. She is the subject of much discussion in pop culture, specifically regarding the resurgence of “retro sexiness,” which is a buzzword made up by eunuchal scenesters who think politics began the day they were born.
Sweeney did an ad for AE about her jeans, which progressives can’t apparently differentiate from genes and as such, immediately assumed that the ad was about Hitler because she’s blonde and said “jeans.” I’m not kidding:
The only reason Sydney Sweeney is selling American Eagle’s jeans is because she’s attractive and, marketing 101 here, attractive people sell things better to other people than non-attractive people do.
When the left isn’t slut-shaming Sydney Sweeney because she’s better looking than the men they usually get to cosplay as women in their ads, they’re accusing her of Naziism.
The “backlash” began amongst a group of random, progressive heifers on TikTok, who are mad that Sweeney isn’t just pretty, she’s unapologetically pretty — and therein lies the problem. When the left isn’t slut-shaming Sydney Sweeney because she’s better looking than the men they usually get to cosplay as women in their ads, they’re accusing her of Naziism.
For the past decade, Skittle-haired fourth wave feminists have lamented the “male gaze” whereas Sweeney represents a cultural shift away from eschewing male attention to welcoming it. She invites you to look, to appreciate, to watch her movies and buy the products she endorses. Her power and marketing appeal is in her feminine beauty, not in victimhood, which is the only tool/source of power that modern feminists know.
Today’s women have been raised on a diet of complaining and blaming every one of their unfortunate choices on men — only to surrender their locker rooms, their sports teams, even their advertising to men. They’ve championed morbidly obese women in Victoria’s Secret ads (proving that it is possible to make lingerie repellant) while shaming Sweeney and any women shaped like her for being “provocative.” So much for “body positivity.” As a result, masculinity has been denigrated, men don’t want to pursue women, marriage rates are declining, and America (and other western nations) is in a “romantic recession.” It’s almost seems that because these broads couldn’t attract a date, they’ve made it to where no one else can, either.
So here we finally have an honest-to-goodness woman in an ad, a real woman, a pretty woman, and the left has dissolved into such a hysterical state of protest that they’ve gone to Godwin’s Law immediately. Don’t you get it?
American Eagle, because when one thinks “eagle” one thinks “Nazi,” apparently; Sydney Sweeney, oh my gosh that’s two S’s; and “jeans,” OBVIOUSLY meaning her blonde haired genes. Obviously. Whatever it takes to distract people from how normal things were once.
All of this made me visit American Eagle’s website in the first time, ever, just out of spite. Good for them on making an ad that doesn’t just celebrate women and the female form, but hires actual women for the ad.
Don’t tell the TikTok herd about Brooke Shields’s ad from the 80s:
