You just have to love how Democrats are choosing to waste time and money these days when it comes to defending illegal immigrants in this country.
The latest example came when a group of Maryland Democrats conducted a sit-in at an ICE facility in recent days.
All this nonsense does is one thing… it gets them a cheap headline.
Sitting in
The sit-in was conducted by Maryland Democrat Sens. Chris Van Hollen and Angela Alsobrooks, along with Reps. Glenn Ivey, Sarah Elfreth, Kweisi Mfume, and Johnny Olszewski Jr.
Several weeks ago, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem announced that any such visits must be announced, and it appears that these members of Congress were declined access to the facility because they did not follow the new procedure.
So, they decided to pout and then sit down outside the ERO Baltimore Office.
The lawmakers stated they were trying to conduct oversight of the office.
Alsobrooks posted to X, “I joined Team Maryland in conducting oversight on the ICE facility in Baltimore.”
She continued, “We were denied entry. The fear we are all feeling will pass, but the shame that our country will carry as a result of this conduct, will last generations.”
Elfreth added, “My Maryland delegation colleagues and I were just denied access to an ICE facility in Baltimore — despite our clear legal right to conduct oversight.”
She further added that her “constituents” were being “snatched off the streets,” but that is a complete and utter lie.
A constituent is defined as being a “voting member of a community,” something illegals are not.
They are not citizens, they are not legal residents, and they have no right to vote in this country, so they are not constituents.
But it does go to show you have far the left will go to present people who ignored our border laws to enter this country as American citizens and legal residents.
After the report surfaced, Noem had a response of her own, posting to X pictures of illegals who had committed crimes, with the caption, “These are the monsters that @ChrisVanHollen is protecting over Americans victims.”
DHS also responded, “Congressman, if you need a photo op with the violent criminal illegal aliens you are protecting — schedule a TOUR.”
The post continued, “As for visits to detention facilities, requests should be made with sufficient time to prevent interference with the President’s Article II authority to oversee executive department functions—a week is sufficient to ensure no intrusion on the President’s constitutional authority. To protect the President’s Article II authority, any request to shorten that time must be approved by the Secretary.”
Dems are handing the GOP a gift with these publicity stunts. Not that the GOP has much chance of winning Maryland, but this is something that is impacting voters around the country, and it continues to hurt Democrats.
Ahead of a 2026 midterm cycle that, historically speaking, should be huge for Democrats, they continue to be their own worst enemy.
