Former Vice President Kamala Harris is weighing her political options.
Democrats aren’t liking what they are hearing.
And Kamala Harris asked one question about her future that led to this shocking response.
Kamala Harris reportedly set a deadline for herself for the end of the summer to decide if she is running for Governor of California in 2026.
At first glance, the idea of a former Vice President running for Governor of deep blue California seems like a lay-up for Kamala.
But Kamala, who, according to journalist Mark Halperin, struggles to make tough decisions, can’t make up her mind.
According to CNN, when Kamala asked allies if she should run for governor, they put the question back to her.
“Several people who have spoken to Harris told CNN she has asked them whether they think she should run. Some of those people, who spoke on condition of anonymity to disclose private conversations, say they have turned the question back to her,” CNN reported.
Kamala is also facing a decided lack of enthusiasm
And not every former Governor of California was willing to speak to Kamala when she reached out to ask about the nature of the job.
“She has also reached out to former California governors to ask what she could get done on the job, though not all have agreed to speak with her about it,” CNN also reported.
Congressional Democrats were also lukewarm on Kamala running for Governor, fearing that her lack of a base would mean depressed Democrat turnout and the idea of voting against her would motivate GOP voters to turnout.
“There’s no groundswell for her candidacy. I think it would only fire up Republicans and hurt our ability to win the four to five seats that we need to win to win the House and hold on to three seats that we just flipped in 2024,” said one California House Democrat, telling CNN. “She comes in with baggage.”
California is the centerpiece of the Democratic effort to win back the House.
Democrats need to flip just three seats, but with Republicans expected to add new seats thanks to redistricting in Texas and Ohio, the party can’t afford Kamala dragging the ticket down in the Golden State.
Some Democrats were even willing to put their name to quotes saying Kamala shouldn’t run for Governor.
Democrat Congressman Jimmy Gomez said voters would be able to tell that Kamala was using the position as a fallback, and that could hurt Democratic performance in California.
“Once you’re the vice president of the United States, there’s only one place to go. It’s president,” Gomez said to CNN. “For me, if I were vice president and all of a sudden I lost, it would be a fallback to me. I hate to put it so bluntly.”
Kamala Harris failed miserably in two Presidential campaigns.
Now Democrats fear she is going to tank a third election because she can’t take the hint that voters don’t want to trust her with power.
