ROCKVILLE, MD – An FBI supervisor, Eduardo Valdivia, has been found guilty of multiple counts of rape and sexual offenses, facing up to 122 years in prison. Montgomery County’s State’s Attorney, John McCarthy, emphasized the gravity of the crimes and the misuse of Valdivia’s FBI training to target victims.
Valdivia, 41, from Gaithersburg, was convicted last Friday after a jury deliberated for just three hours. He used his position and skills to manipulate and assault three women, including an 18-year-old high school senior, over a two-year period.
Prosecutors revealed that Valdivia, who also operated local tattoo shops, utilized aliases and social media to lure victims with promises of free tattoos and modeling contracts. Despite his claims of consensual encounters, evidence showed he filmed the assaults and used the footage for blackmail.
The crimes occurred from 2022 to 2024, with Valdivia exploiting young women by leveraging their aspirations and vulnerabilities. McCarthy plans to seek the maximum sentence for Valdivia, who is also a father of three daughters.
Valdivia’s past includes a 2020 court case where he was acquitted of attempted murder after shooting a man on a metro train. He claimed self-defense when confronted for money by the victim.
Sentencing for Valdivia is set for mid-October. The community remains shocked by how he used his law enforcement training to deceive and harm.
