For the next installment of my series on failed inspections of Planned Parenthood facilities, I turn to Little Rock, Arkansas.
The facility at Little Rock failed two health inspections, one in 2016 and one in 2018. It may have failed others more recently, but these are the ones we found when we went looking.
The list of violations is relatively short, but the problems are serious. Here is the report.
Clinic Conditions
Items required for patient care weren’t stored in a clean environment. For example, white drapes used in exams were left on the floor of the storage room. The clinic was cited for allowing the contamination of patient care equipment.

The facility “failed to ensure that equipment was kept in good repair.”
A stool in the ultrasound room had a cloth covering that “has an absorbent nature and cannot be disinfected.” A hole in the covering extended down into the cushion.
Staff
Three of the four clinical staff had no CPR certification.
Other
The clinic failed to “develop, implement, or rehearse” plans for what to do in case of a disaster.
The facility was required to make available a list of emergency phone numbers and contact information for police, the fire department, ambulance services, and other emergency responders. The list hadn’t been updated in two years. This could cause a delay in contacting emergency services.
Here are copies of the inspection reports:
The fact that items that came in contact with patients during surgery were stored on the floor is disturbing, and having staff untrained in CPR could lead to tragedy in an emergency.
