The “Lars Larson Show: Criminal Alien of the Week Report” in the fourth week of July 2025 has for northwest regional and national radio listeners and webpage followers a report on a federal law enforcement identified foreign national whose criminal case for drug trafficking charges was adjudicated in a U.S. District Court in the state of Oregon.
Some background information, on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon (USAODO), issued a news release titled “Drug Trafficker Unlawfully Residing in Oregon Sentenced to Federal Prison for Role in Dispatcher-Based Drug Trafficking Organization” who the subject of interest was Yesmin Miseal Medina Vargas (U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon Court Case Number: Case Number: 3:23-CR-00926-IM).
Here is an extended excerpt from USAODO’s June 10, 2025 news release on Yesmin Miseal Medina Vargas :
“PORTLAND, Ore.— A Portland drug trafficker was sentenced to federal prison Friday for possessing fentanyl on multiple occasions.
Yesmin Miseal Medina Vargas, 20, a Honduran national unlawfully residing in Oregon, was sentenced to 121 months in federal prison and four years’ supervised release.
According to court documents, in February 2023, Medina Vargas was identified as a leader of a dispatcher-based drug trafficking organization in the Portland area. Medina Vargas was responsible for taking orders from customers and coordinating drug deliveries.
In February 2023, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents executed a search warrant on Medina Vargas’ residence and seized more than 20 pounds of fentanyl, body armor, ammunition, and cellular phones.
Medina Vargas resumed drug trafficking and several months later, in August 2023, Medina Vargas arrived at a controlled buy in Tigard, Oregon, with a minor in his vehicle. Medina-Vargas and the minor were arrested, and agents seized approximately 2,000 fentanyl pills.
On September 12, 2023, a federal grand jury in Portland returned a two-count indictment charging Medina Vargas with conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl.
On November 5, 2024, Medina Vargas pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute fentanyl. As part of his plea agreement, Medina Vargas admitted that he was part of a drug trafficking organization that caused an overdose death.
This case was investigated by HSI with assistance from the FBI, Westside Interagency Narcotics Team, and Lake Oswego Police Department.” – U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon.
As courtesy and for informational purposes the “Criminal Alien of the Week Report” sent via e-mail on or about June 10, 2025 a copy of the USAODO press release on Yesmin Miseal Medina Vargas to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Public Affairs for the Northwest Region which encompasses the states of Alaska, Oregon and Washington, furthermore, ICE Public Affairs in Washington, D.C.
At this time there is no explanation at hand of why ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) or ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) have not issued a press release on the take down of now convicted sentenced drug trafficker Yesmin Miseal Medina Vargas.
When Yesmin Miseal Medina Vargas is eventually transferred if Medina-Vargas is not already in the custody of the U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) he will or has joined more than 25-thousand criminal aliens incarcerated in the BOP prison system.
