Rep. Jasmine Crockett’s (D-TX) controlling nature and ego were exposed in a recent Atlantic profile.
The Texas congresswoman was seen scolding colleagues over scheduling and food, according to journalist Elaine Godfrey.
Godfrey noted Crockett’s obsession with her image, revealing that her phone lock screen is a photo of herself.
The journalist’s access was revoked after she contacted other lawmakers for their views on Crockett, which is a standard journalistic practice.
Crockett was upset and “shutting down the profile and revoking all permissions,” Godfrey wrote.
Up to 33 of Crockett’s colleagues either declined to comment or ignored requests. Some staffers told Godfrey they see Crockett as “undisciplined” but are reluctant to say so publicly.
Journalists on social media criticized Crockett’s reaction.
“That is not how any of this works,” NBC reporter Sahil Kapur said.
“Free advice to profile subjects: do not ever do this,” The Bulwark’s Joe Perticone said.
Before revoking access, Crockett bragged about her firebrand progressive image and willingness to “go low” with Republicans like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA).
When asked if she regretted calling Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R), who uses a wheelchair, “Governor Hot Wheels,” Crockett said, “I don’t second-guess sh*t.”
She claimed the comment referred to Abbott sending migrants to New York City by bus.
Godfrey described Crockett’s interactions with staff as “brusque.”
Crockett scolded an aide for an unclear schedule note and told another the food they brought “looked like crap.”
Crockett is “highly conscious of her self-presentation,” Godfrey wrote. She often wears acrylic nails painted with “RESIST” and heavy lashes. The lock screen on her phone is a headshot of herself, according to the Daily Mail.
In 2024, Crockett went viral for calling Greene a “bleach blond bad built butch body.”
Crockett lamented in the profile that Democratic colleagues shut her out of the House Oversight Committee’s top spot despite having the largest social media following.
“It’s like, there’s one clear person in the race that has the largest social-media following,” she said.
She has signaled interest in running for Senate against Texas Sen. John Cornyn (R) this year.
When asked about a potential Senate run, Crockett said, “My philosophy is: Stay ready so you don’t have to get ready.”
The latest report about Crockett comes weeks after Resist the Mainstream reported that the Texas congresswoman decided to post about her haircut on social media as 111 Texas residents died from the devastating floods that rocked the state.
Instead of speaking about the tragic events in her state, Crockett chose to speak about the struggles she faces under the Trump administration.
“The sad part is, I think that my heart is going to carry a level of weight that will continue to weigh me down as we have to continue to do our best to survive in an administration that literally is against us,” she said.
