GOP Rep. Bob Onder, R-Mo., has introduced legislation to rename the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts to the Donald J. Trump Center for the Performing Arts, The Hill reported.
Republicans have already moved to name the center’s opera house after first lady Melania Trump. Under the current administration, the center has undergone a substantial leadership shakeup, with former acting Director of National Intelligence Ric Grenell assuming leadership of the center.
He has since overhauled the center’s program roster, swapping out niche independent shows for larger productions with mass appeal, such as “Les Mis.”
The center opened in 1971. It currently boasts an opera house, concert hall, and the Eisenhower Theater.
