Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche has completed two days of interviews with convicted sex-trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell, reigniting public demand for the release of sealed documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation.
Maxwell, currently serving a 20-year sentence at FCI Tallahassee, reportedly answered questions about “around 100 people,” according to her attorney David Markus. The DOJ questioning took place behind closed doors on July 24 and 25, with officials refusing to confirm whether Donald Trump was discussed.
“She answered every question and didn’t hold anything back,” Markus told reporters. “She has no reason to lie.”
The timing of the Ghislaine Maxwell DOJ questioning coincides with rising pressure on the Trump administration to reverse its decision to withhold further Epstein-related documents, a stance that has drawn criticism from lawmakers and Trump’s own base.
Meanwhile, a federal judge in Florida rejected the DOJ’s attempt to unseal grand jury transcripts from the original Epstein probe in 2005–2007. Maxwell, who filed an appeal with the Supreme Court in April, argues her prosecution violated a non-prosecution agreement struck between Epstein and the government—a claim the DOJ has dismissed as “implausible.”
Maxwell’s legal team is now awaiting word from the Supreme Court on whether her appeal will be heard.
While President Trump has denied any involvement in the Epstein scandal and dismissed the idea of a pardon for Maxwell, critics remain skeptical—especially after he wished her well during a 2020 press briefing and reportedly contributed a lewd message to Epstein’s birthday book, a detail he denies.
Russell Brand and other commentators have compared recent developments to the Event 201 simulation, suggesting a pattern of secrecy and elite protection that undermines public trust in justice.
“She’s been scapegoated,” Markus said. “It’s time people hear what really happened.”
Maxwell continues to serve her sentence in a federal facility plagued by poor conditions and staff shortages. She maintains that her conviction was politically motivated and has called on the Supreme Court for relief.
